I just purchased my copy of Arctic Solitaire at Village Books in Fairhaven yesterday. I am about 50 pages into it, and it is a GREAT read! If you struggled with Least Heat Moon's flatulently pseudo-literary writing style, where frequent resorts to the dictonary were necessary to decode the words that Least Heat Moon probably needed his thesaurus to inflict on readers, as I did, you will really enjoy this book - no dictionary required! And while Least Heat Moon evidently had a humorectomy, you will smile and possibly even chuckle, at some of Paul's turns of phrase!
We were friends with Kirby Unti, from whom Paul purchased C-Sick. Our Fall City neighbor, Garry Anderson, who bypassed C-Dory and went directly to Ranger from his Trophy, introduced us to Kirby. Garry was the police chief of Renton, and Kirby was the PD's chaplain. Not sure whether "C-Sick" was Lutheran humor or not but Kirby is a great guy - have not seen him in a few years now. I called Garry to let him know where Kirby's boat ended up and to recommend this book.
Highly recommended!
