C Dory Movie

Wow! Ron... that was such a neat, long episode! And the music was great. Thanks for posting it! Who was the mysterious spy lady piloting????? John

That is just down right cool! :thup We see dolphins everyday when we are out down here... and it never gets old. But, we rarely see more than a half dozen or so at a time. Now, I will have that music running through my head when I see them. :wink

Nice job, and thanks for letting us have a look!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Ron,

What a great movie. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I had an experience like this in the middle 60's. While crewing on a 36' racing sail boat, having just rounded a buoy at the tip of Cape Cod, just before 0600 Hrs, while having my first coffee, we were joined by a school of dolphins, alot like your movie. You never forget experiences like that.

Thank you again.

Fred

Always fun to see these fascinating creatures when out on the open sea. Year before last had a pod of six or eight Dahls’s porpoises that we spotted three or four hundred yards off our starboard side. They made a beeline for us and did the usual swim along and played in the bow wave. What made this event so very memorable was that we were going along at about 15 knots, me with my head stuck out the window and my brother on the back deck watching them swim by the boat. After a couple circles around the boat one of the pod turned sideways and looked at us watching, next trip around he gave us a look again then flipped his tail and threw a huge wave of water up soaking us. This game went on for several trips around the boat, each time the porpoise would match our speed look at my brother splash him on the deck then come up the window check me out and splash me.
It was so funny we were both splitting a gut from laughing and soaked by the time they got bored and moved on.

Great video. Thanks for posting the link. It would be fun to make one like it on the Chesapeake. Anybody know how to make a jellyfish jump out of the water?

Great video. Thanks for making it available to us.
Do you ever worry about one of the dolphins getting cut-up in the prop when they are cutting across your bow and under the boat?

Wow! Thanks! I can't wait until the kids get home to show them. And I am calling my daughter and sending her the link. She love dolphins. Thank you very much!

that is a very cool video. You're very fortunate to be able to get out and play with such creatures. The closest thing we have to anything like that on the river around here are those damn aluminum boats

WOW, that is great! Thank you for sharing with us. I've had a gray whale come up close to us outside Astoria .... way too close for me -- the dolphins look like they're having a GREAT time :)

Yea Ron, isn't it awful what we have to put up with going out to the islands? Nearly every trip. I remember your video when you first made it, still terrific. Thanks.

Thanks Ron,
Reminded me of our trip to Ketchikan from the Seattle area last June, when we got into a pod of about 500. Rode our bow wave and stern wave for miles. Very cool.

Mike, I don't know how to get THEM to jump out of the water but they sure know how to get ME to do it! Ever get stung by one of those puppies? :cry

Wow......glad you all liked the video.

As for worrying about these dolphins getting cut up by the prop. It is not a problem. These animals are such good swimmers. They are absolutely amazing to see how accurate they swim. I have had them swim perpendicular to me, and then just go right under my boat and pop out the other side. In the Santa Barbara Channel we have big ships passing thru, and they often can be see riding the bow wave of a cargo ship. The other thing that is amazing is if you get enough of them around the boat, you can hear the sounds they make; communicating to each other and using echo collation.
Way cool!
