Hello fellow C-Brats,

I recently purchased a 2007 C-Dory 22 cruiser with twin EFI Mercury 40's. (I will post some more pictures soon including some of the projects I have been tackling).

The boat came with this fibreglass panel and I really can't figure out what it is for... does anyone know? Picture below.

That looks like the back to the convertible dinnette/passenger seat that is moved from forward to aft facing after sliding the seat.

My '07 has the panel.
 
Sounds like some of the '07 CD-22's had a moveable and reversing panel to reverse the passenger front seat, and others must have used a swing hinge with the seat back attached to do the same job (?)

Still Crazy is an '07 and has the panel. It is cumbersome, and there must be a better way, but it does work.
 
Mine didn't come with one either (not that this was a poll of any sorts) but that does look a lot more sturdy and would not put nearly the tension on the table like my hinge job. On a positive note I don't have the worry of storing it when not in use.

You don't really have to store it. It is set either one way or the other.

Either way it is the back of the mates seat. It took me a while to get mine to work right, it was hard getting into the slots and the table is a little bit in the way.
 
Okay, maybe there was a major design change in '07. My passenger seat slides fore and aft. The dinette is hinged about 1/3-worth, and folds down when the passenger is facing forward, acting as the seat back for the passenger. When the entire dinette is desired, then the passenger seat is moved forward, the cushion is removed from the dinette leaf and snapped to the forward bulkhead that now serves as the passenger seat back.

I'm curious to know how the other '07s are designed, and how the panel is used.
 
My dinette table top has the one third thing as well. But the fiberglass panel is always mounted depending on whether in the dinnette mode of the co-pilot mode. It simply flips 180 degrees depending on the seating mode.
 
My 07 has that same seat set up. I think that it could be better. Rick, can you show a picture of your seat? I do how that my boat is an early 07 if that makes a differance.

My boat is staged two hours away for the springer season. I'll get some pics next time I'm down there, hopefully next weekend.
 
That moveable back was first delivered on the 2005 25's. The factory adopted it from a job that a C-Dory owner did. It's a great improvment on having a rigid fixed back.

We use it and thought it very easy to use. As pointed out above, it's either in one position or t'other. I did have to file a few things to get a smoother fit. Judy can change it in 30 sec. 15 to remind me and 15 for me.

And the C-Brat that designed and built the first sliding seat is our own head honcho Tyboo (Mike Barber). The seat conversion was originally known as a 'Barber chair'.

Boris, my 2003 C Dory 25 had the removable panel for the back, so it came along before 2005.
 
we have the seat back that Simon mentions on our 24 Tomcat and it is really great for someone facing forward when we are under way.

Here are some pics of how my mate's seat is set up.

This is the mate's seat in the forward facing position. Note the dinette is folded down and secured, and serves as the seat back.

This is the cushion that serves as the seat back for the mate when facing aft. You can see the tracks that the seat slides on fore and aft.

Thanks for the pictures. I belive that I could retro fit mine to be like yours without to much touble. The only thing is as my seat does not but up to the bulkhead in the aft facing postion I have mounted a mesh storage pocket on the bulkhead. Its a nice place to store my list of excuses as to why I'm not catching any fish. How you doing on springers?
