Putting up a metal carport ,want to be able to store a 22 c-dory. Can anyone tell me height and width that will be needed? I guess radar and dingy possibly,in height measurement. Thanks. Im in process of putting in a gravel base now,just got two tri axles of stone delivered yesterday.

Take a look at TOGO photo album's the door opening is 10 feet by 10 feet. TOGO is a 19 foot but heights are the same. With radar you will need more height. With the arch I have 6 inch or so clearance. The width is 10 feet seams like plenty it is not when you are backing in at a angle. Wish I had gone to at least 12 feet. The clearance goes fast. The inside width is 13 feet I could of used the additional 2 feet here also. The length I use for the 19 is 28 feet and that leaves me room to put stuff behind the boat.
I don't know if you have a rodent problem but if you do go to a hard floor so the door seals will work.

Good Morning Larry,
The bay doors that I store my 22' in are 10' x 12'. If I could do it over, the doors would be 12' wide instead of 10'! (10' wide allows very little clearance as the fenders pass through the opening). I do have a radar arch with the radome mounted on top of it, but it is a bit shorter than some. ( 12' height works fine but obviously height depends on the radar arch ). The. depth of my shop is 34' which allows 4' of clearance between the rear wall and the engines in the down position. (If I had that to do over I would have gone 38' deep for more room when performing engine maintenance).

Thanks for replys,now I have a good idea of width, height, and length .Im going to knock a tree down,so as to get the lot a little deeper. Better to ask those who have already done it.
 
I agree with TOGO. Go with a concrete floor. It will keep out more than just rodents.
 
On my CC23, 12x30 with 10ft clearance at the peak. That gave enough room to cover trailer tongue to props with buffer on the sides to back in easier and to move around while working on her. I don't have an arch, just a dome on pedestal so you may need to bump the height up a foot or two.

Good luck on the construction...nice to have some cover!

Cant beat a concrete slab that's for sure. Gotta take good care of these c-dorys .
 
funny that it was mentioned about the door/gate being a bit wider. My dad's gate on the barn/arena is 10ft and we always parked his boat there (mine is winterized there now). no problem getting the 22 parked in there, personally, but just this week he said that if he could do it again, he'd make the gate wider so it isn't so nerve wracking parking certain machines (like boats) under cover.
 
I park my boat in a nicely sized garage, but the 10ft wide door and having to back in on a curve, though not impossible, is definitely a backing skills sharpener. The height is TBD based on your vessel height, plus about 6 inches. (Don't forget to put your antenna's down :oops:
