Hi I'm wondering if there will be any CD dealers at the Indianapolis Boat and Travel Show on Feb 19-28 2010? I've contact the nearest CD dealer (Chattanooga Tenn) and his CD's are located in Florida. Man it's tuff trying to look at a boat when all of them seem to be located so far from home. :) Thanks, Jim

But its warm here ! We have a Tomcat ,26 Venture , a 22 Cruiser, a 19 Angler and 2 16 Cruisers, one new and one used .
PM if you nee any more info . We can have a virtual boat show at least !
Marc

Just a thought..there is a C-Dory Dealer in NC as well. They are called Mobile East Marine. A lot of folks here know them from our NC Gatherings at Oriental. They have some nice new and used boats.. There is a Boat show in Raleigh NC Feb 12th. At the state fair grounds..:D Take care all..Tracy

Thanks to everyone for your input. The MO dealer appears to be the closest to me and it should only be a 3 1/2 hour drive over there. I'm surprised he still has a new 2007 25' cruiser available for sale. It sure is a nice boat but I think the towing weight with the boat loaded might be more than I want. I should look at a 22' cruiser maybe. I know it's much lighter in weight and still has nice space in the cabin. Thanks again, Jim

Plenty of us understand your situation, Jim... it is over 1,000 miles to the nearest dealer for us. :crook However, the boat is unique enough that it is worth the trip. If you can find a dealer who has a 22 and a 25, it is quite revealing to go from one to the other. The size difference is substantial. We went to the Seattle Boat Show to be able to see the whole line and try each boat on for size.

A dealer that you feel comfortable with will be worth the drive.

Good luck with your search and decisions!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Jim thank you for your input. Yes it would be nice to see a 22' and 25' side by side and I can appreciate the additional room the 25' has but I'd have to trade trucks to tow the additional weight of the 25. I e-mailed the MO dealer and he had sold the 25' that he had in stock. He has a 19' Angler but I'm not sure you if can close in the aft bulkhead of the cabin (canvas Maybe). If I can ever get set up the boat will make a trip up the inside passage, down the Wabash, Ohio, Mississippi Rivers to New Orleans, and the Intercoastal Waterway from Miami to New York. Unfortunately, my wife isn't ready to make such extended trips, so it will most likely be solo trips. In fact, a properly rigged 16' Cruiser would make the trips with planning and a eye on weather and sea states. Jim you have a great looking 25' and I'm sure the radar is a nice addition to the boat. Thanks again, Jim

Have considered attending a C Brats get together or driving to Wefings and talking with Marc Grove since you are located the Indiana and it is warmer than 10 degrees here in Greenwood? Marc has boat rentals and new stock. We drive to Florida several times each year and leave in the afternoon to avoid nearly of all of the heavy traffic in the larger cities but I drive a lot at night and listen to audio books while the family sleeps so this is not for everyone and the Admiral shares the driving and likes the early am drive time. I have not been to Wefings but taking I-65 south then taking the state roads looks like a easy drive to me plus the scenery is great from southern Indiana to Florida

In addtion to boats for sale posted on this site, look at Jaxed listing located at
http://www.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/mash.cgi?c ... ++++go++++

It is mostly used boats but new one are posted sometimes

This site changes and not all sold items are always removed quickly enough for some folks so my suggestion to check it several times during the week. I does not bother but we found our boat due to it being posted on JAXED

Thanks for the link Brent. I've added it to my favorites and will check it often. Yes, I've thought about going to the C-Dory dealer in Fla on our way to Palm Coast to visit relatives. Now that I know there's a dealer just 180 miles west of me, it may be just as easy to run over to his dealership for a look at the boats if he gets something I'd like to see. Thanks again, Jim

Welcome

Three Rivers Marine in Florida has a nice 2007 Cape Cruiser 26' Marinaut for $86,975 (just a starting point )
It looks laoded to me

The 26' boat at Three Rivers Marine is really nice, but, I think it is too big for me to handle alone on the trips I have planned and the price of the boat may be a good one, but, it's quite a bit higher than I want to pay. :) In fact Panhandle Marine in Juneau Alaska has a used 16' Cruiser that's loaded with everything I'd want on a boat for the trips I've planned. It's just a matter of deciding if that's way I want to go. In fact, the former owners of the CD-16 Cruiser will likely be members of the C-Brats. If I can get the name of the boat I'll ask the former owners for information on the boat and hopefully they will be kind enough to tell me about it. Thanks for the information on Three Rivers, Jim

welcome

We stopped by 3 Rivers a couple of years ago to see both cape Crusier models and spent a couple of hours or more looking
We were not in any hurry, Why?
It was our first vacation in 20yrs without the kids
They wanted to stay home and busy with their lives
Not kids any longer

I know what you mean about the trip without kids. Kathy and I've been on our own for around 22 years. I'm going to turn 70 years old this year and I'm going to have to get this boat thing in gear if I want to complete the trips I have planned. I'm still in great health for my age, but, you never know when that will go down hill. My best advice to anyone is: if you want to do something and can afford to do it, go for it while you can! :D

First, you really need to both see AND sea trail all sizes of boats. My feeling is that the 16 or 19 are too small to do the proposed trip comfortably. The 22 is a great boat. A lot depends on your physical size. If you are over 6'2" there are real advantages to the 25 from a comfort standpoint (also a bit better ride in the chop). The 25 also has a real head and shower--may or may not be important.

Now as for the route--you need to seriously rethink the Mississippi to New Orleans part of the trip--yes it has been done. But there are virtually no places to get fuel South of Vicksburg MS (and even there it will be jerry jugs from a service station some how. This is distance of 337 miles. The only way to make that would be to run at a slow speed--and take advantage of the current. There are few places if any to safely pull off the river. You will meet a lot of commercial traffic. Even with my background and with a diesel vessle with the range, I would be reluctant to make this run.

A far better plan is to take the route via the Ten Tom Waterway, Tenn. River etc. This is not only safer, but there are multiple anchorages and marinas, plus fuel--although there are some distances which press the range of some of the C Dories.

Let us know what you find as you view these boats. I also would recommend a trip to Wefings, and use Marc's. He has extensive experience not only in boating, but in small pilot house type of boats. This is somthing which may be lacking at some of the other dealers.

I also recommend a visit to: http://www.nauticalcharts.noaa.gov/nsd/ ... tances.pdf
This is Distances between US ports. There is also the NOAA site which has all of the charts down loadable of coastal areas for free. The Army Corp of engineers also has the electronic charts of the rivers in down loadable or DVD format.

i have been on the 26 venture at three rivers and it is a sweet boat, but it has been for sale for 2+ years. i don't know how often it has been run.
i bought my 22 from marc at wefings and they are great people to deal with. good luck and happy sailing.
