When a "For Sale" ad has inquiries for weeks, or months at a time, with no response from the "seller", delete the ad. Some sell the boat and don't have the decency to go back and post "SOLD".

I'm the guy who marks them sold and I try to review every post in the For Sale section to see if the seller has indicated it has sold. When I get around to moving the sold ads to the Marketplace Reference forum I will generally delete the older ones if they have been inactive for a while. They used to auto delete after 90 days but that led to more complaints than having old ads got me so I changed it. I shoot for minimum complaints when there is a choice.

The gentleman who posted the ad you asked about earlier today has a valid email and if he has not replied to an inquiry it could be for any number of reasons. The best way to keep ads from overstaying their welcome is to not reply to them again if the first couple tries don't work so I see the ads as inactive and remove them. We can't make the seller reply to inquiries but we like to give them every chance of selling the boat. Ignoring an ad gives a buyer the same chance of getting to buy it as my deleting the ad would.

Don't give up on finding your new boat, even if it isn't the one you are trying for at the moment! It is always worth it when you find the right one.
