C-Ranger Dropped From C-Dory Web Site

Bill - as a Lutheran Pastor, Kirby most likely does not need to invoke his status as Captain to perform marriage ceremonies!

Yep, good idea for you to marry the girls on the boat -- skipper has the right to marry -- as captain, we married our middle kid on a boat and it was a great time and fond memory for all.

Interesting talk once again continues on our C-Brat site..

Some questions posed on this link I find very intesting, some dock talk, people talk, boat styles, people styles, people here now, people gone from C-Dory now...

Will they drop the "C" on C-Ranger.... Hummm I do not know?? Will they?

Will they add some letters to our C-Dory boats.... what letters??? Hummm.... I do not know...

Talk on a dock of late indicates with Jeff M gone from day to day overwatch of our .... Let's see... Now just how did Sea Wolf Joe say it....??? Oh yea... our The C-Dory's tough, spartan, and utilitarian image ... Yea that is it. ... that they might need to add a couple of letters after C-Dory... you know...to better reflect Tom's input on our boats...

Letters like "WJ" ....or "BT"... you know....

C-Dory With Jeff.....or Before Tom...?? I guess time will tell.

OK Joe... do your majic with the photo shop... What will the new C-Dory boat logo look like....to match all the blow-n-go or cookie cutter parts??

I loved our old boats... just as they were. This brought right back to the forefront of my simple mind after helping haul out GYPSY for a little maintenance on the hard... Now...that boat does not look like any other boat at the shows this year...just the way I liked it.....but, I may be a part of a minority.....once again.

Having just been handed a forum and album on here with the C in the titles, I would certainly hope they might see some value in it.

Roger - there clearly is some C-Dory DNA in the new Ranger. The classic curve of the C-Dory that rests on the bow is there on the Ranger.

When Bill makes the move he can call his Ranger - DA Ranger.

The wait is killing me. Too much time to think about what a stupid financial move it is. Who said boating ever penciled out?

This post is scaring me.
We have taken possession of the "Mis Dee", her new name. and this is the 1st I have heard of this. We do have a few problems to sort out. Hopefully they will help resolve them. I will wait and see before posting these things.
Just my luck lately. Right after I bought the Garmin M-4 they discontinued the production of them. It has turned out to be the best chart plotter I have seen. Can't understand why they would quit making them.

We are now in Tittusville and should put in the water about Monday of next week. Maybe will do a short shake down before that. Than on to the Keys.

The links were restored on both sites right after our discussion here. It is my hope and that of several others that the two companies will see the benefits of staying linked. Friendship is a great gift with many mutual benefits. Its why we are Brats!!!

C... they do look in here now and then and C the interest we have.

C yall later...going to the Cumberland River for the weekend and C what all has changed in about a month, on C-Byrd of course.

Hey C-Brats,
Answer to the big question. The Name has changed to Ranger Tug. The boat delivered to Miami boat show and sold to a real nice fella that happens to manage the fancyest yacht club in Forida." THE ROYAL PALM YACHT AND COUNTRY CLUB "
That is just the head line. Here is the rest of the story: Upon puting the boat in the water in Titusville and heading south cruising the the big ditch. The weather turned terrible with drenching rain and high winds. The boat taking on water bilge pump not working well, water building on side pockets. Clamp on holding tank dump faulty, dump sewerage in bilge. I had planned ahead and brought a tarp along top shed water. It was a good idea. That was all the bad news , now for the good . The factory ....RANGER TUG,,,,,,John Livingston, Jeff, Wefing Marine ( Mark ) made arangements with this Yacht club Robert A. Guth, Dock Master, Zack Rice, I can not say enough about these people. They got the right people to solve all our problems. A young tech by the name of Scott worked all day and done the job.

Got to go, will continue later as to what they all did. And what they plan on doing for a ranger gathering. Lot to talk about.

Back again,
Last post was bad, but now I can try and fix it. Mr. Robert Guth is the General Manager of the whole affair. He is the guy that purchased the Ranger Tug that was shown at the Miami boat show. Between him and Dock Master, Zack Rice. They allowed us a safe, sound and beautiful place to recoup and their people to properly repair all that was needed.

In case anyone would like to join this club: It cost $100,000 up front to join and $18,000 a year to keep your membership. Now they will discuss the cost of you renting a slip. If you stop by for the night, it is $13.76 per ft. Do The math.

I believe Ranger tug, (John and Jeff) Wefing Marine ( Mark) went all out to fix us up. Yanmar responed in kind. When we first launched in Titusville, the Tack didn't work properly and the turbo over heated. A young fellow out of Cocoa worked on it three different days, once we took the boat to their shop and twice he met us on the water. The tack sender was taken from the fly wheel and attached to the altenator ., if I understood him correctly. The overheated turbo was caused by, the cabin heater taking to much cooling water from the turbo. He put in a restrictor in the line. seems to have solved that problem. A jammed and left hose clamp caused the holding tank blow out.

Doing the rest of the 50 hour oil change today. Just the clutch left to do. He is also pick up a pumpout connection you need to pumpout the holding tank. Maybe the factory will take the hint. It needs to go with the boat. In the Keys , when you have to dump, YOU HAVE TO DUMP. OOps I mean "pump"

It is a great boat, a great company, with great people, That have great connections here in Florida. I think we have made great friends here at the Royal Palms. Hope to cruise the St. Johns River with Mr. and Mrs Guth in a month or so. Two Ranger tugs going up and down the river ought to get some attention, huh?

14 to 15 Kts top end. or about 17.5 MPH Maybe 3.5 miles per gal. so far. I think it will improve as it breaks in. More later, any questions?

Hey CPT D! Great to hear you are enjoying your Tug. That should make a great vessel. It is also great to hear of the joint efforts and response between the factory, the dealership, and folks along the way working together to get your Tug set up correctly.

Looks like we have 14 active brats with tugs out there on the waters. I feel sure around this point that Jeff, John & Dav have a checksheet on things that did not go just right on each of these hulls.

At this point, I think it would be prudent as for Jeff, John and Dav to fully water test these boats and their systems. Looks to be the same issues coming out on each Tug. Looks to be things that should be found BEFORE they are shipped from the factory.

Yes...I know...there is a great deal of exspense and time needed to make this happen...but, can they really aford not to??? There is a great amount of water around them up in the Auburn/Seattle area, and I think each of them have some type of place on the water. If they are finishing one boat a week, (which I do not think is happening now), they could each rotate "weekends" on checking out their boat...before shipping it. It would not bother me in the least to know that 15-20 hours will be on the hull when it reaches the dealership, knowing that the hours were for a full blown water trial and systems check. AND...the boat is still right there at the factory. It is not like these folks do not boat in these type of boat

Just think....if CPT D's post sounded like this..... Great 1st trip!!! All systems were Go and worked just like a brand new boat!!! :smile

No problems to report, other than we are loving this vessel and are gaining on the 1st maintenance that will soon be due. The factory and the dealership have contacted folks in my traveling area, and I have an appointment set up for that work....

Followed by, These guys down here did a great job on the oil change and a few other minor adjustments and were truly impressed with the workmanship and general set up of this new tug. The builders of these boats are building a very well done boat.

But then...it is a NEW TUG....not one that has been being built for years... so...some of this for sure is growing pains and will happen on any boat...to a point, hence the need for the full sea trial till they have an established crew at the plant doing things correctly the 1st time.

Great to know all stand behind her and get her up and purrrrrrrrrring down the waters!!!!

Hope to some day travel about the areas with the Tug-Thugs. Great small trailerable tugs they are.

Heck...as their east coast production and sales numbers increase, I might know a guy who would gladly accept, inspect, and sea trail every hull coming over here....before it goes to the dealership.  :hug tug hug :hug2 Think of the frustrations that would save both the dealerships, and the new customers. These are trailerable boats. Humm...one place or logistical base on the east for boats to go thru for a final inspection/sea trial with a vendor familar with the 25 Tug and its systems...

Darryl, I am happy to hear that your boat is repaired and that you will be on your way. Robert Guth even called me last night with an update on how things were progressing. All of the folks at the Royal Palm Yacht Club have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help. Thank you!

Byrdman, your idea of taking every boat to the water and doing a sea trial is a good one. John Livingston personally puts every boat in the water and runs it before it is shipped. We have already implemented a more thorough system check on all of the boats and will continue to do a better job.

I am looking forward to the Poulsbo gathering this weekend.!

Thanks for the input.

Ranger Jeff

Hey Ranger Jeff.... :thup :smiled

And I was hoping to spring a way to spend time on a tug...just checking things out and doing all that painful break-in stuff for your east coast customer!!!

Tell John and Dav I said Hey...and yall let me know when you will be back over this way.

When you guys start to tug on the St. Johns and if you are coming as far as Sanford please post on the forum and I have a Ranger 21 tug that would love to see it's big sister. Most of my boating is here on the St. Johns and it is a beautiful river. If you get down around Fruitland you might run across the little tug shown in my album that ferries cars across the river daily. There are a lot of gators over on the west bank just north of his loading ramp. For the next month I shall be in north Al. building a new home near mile marker 285 on the Tennessee river. Just after you turn into the Elk river mouth I shall be straight ahead with the short concrete day dock off my properity. Hope in the next few months I shall have a chance to meet the C-Dory folks in that area. The place will always be open to brats cruising the Tennessee.

Ron

Ron, if you are over in the Panhandle area we will have a new Ranger 25 in tommorow . It will be here for a while and we would be glad to show it to you and perhaps eat a few dozen oysters .
Marc

Marc, That sounds like a great idea and wish that I could but may be pushed since we plan to spend tomorrow night in Cedar Key and then push hard to north Al. You have a great dealership and my last trip through I stopped and looked at Hunky Dory and the two 25 tugs that were there before the Miami show. The 21 tug is a little short on accommadations for the Tennessee river and I considered trading the 21 in on Hunky Dory. I then realized that you would help sell mine but not trade since you had taken Hunky Dory in on trade. Maybe the next trip or on my return this way I may stop by and talk options I have for preparing for the Tennessee.
Thanks again Ron

This has nothing to do with the topic...but just where I saw Ron making a post...and it is too early as to make a post on the topic.

Ron... Look forward to getting another C-Brat up here in the TN area...and on our TN waters.

I think Mike on GYPSY is going to put together some type of TN River Cruise/Gathering in the fall.... and gathering might be too organized of a word for it...

Real....real....real loose travel plans at this time... to the order of launching in Decatur, AL on Friday 7th of Sept...and pulling out somewhere .... after heading towards KY Dam area...with the only known stop at this time is Birdsong at the mussle farm....and pulling out somewhere...on the 15th of Sept.

Traveling on the rivers for extended periods ....time frames just kinda go with the sun...and the flow of things.... no watches... and often no calendars.... just fun on the waters unplugged loving life and the boats.

congrats on the tug,

Tom suprized me at just how much he feel in love with the tug. He has said many times scince the boat show, that if he could figure out a way to get the tug to motor at 18 he trade our 22. What a beautifull boat.

enjoy

Easy, Susan - just drop in a 160 hp diesel! Shoud be a piece of cake!
