"C"

I think it is just a short way of saying, "Sea Dory" which is a hundreds year old description of a type of flat bottomed boat. ... as opposed to "River Dory".

Just before the original C-Dog site folded, there was a thread on this subject. So taking the bull by the horns, I phoned the factory and the woman I talked to asked Mark Toland, who happened to be there at the time. I was told that the "C" doesn't stand for anything. They had wanted to use "Sea" Dory, but that name was already in use by someone somewhere. So they settled on "C".

Hey Al- Is there any truth to the rumor, that, Like Minnesota, it stands for "Canada, almost"?

Hey, this may not be the end of the earth, but you can see it from here!

Al-I love Minnesota. I was only there once, in Rochester. Had the greatest ribs I have ever had in Rochester, MN. (Of course I haven't tasted Byrdman's yet and believe me I sure do hope to before I pass on. As for Minnesota, all I know is what I read, and I just finished Garrison Keilors newest book. If you're a republican you ain't gonna like it (I of course, loved it). As for Canada, I remember the John Candy movie where he and a few other guys invade Canada with a truck that has anti-Canadian slogans written all over it. He gets stopped by the RCMP who informs him that he must also display the slogans in French.
