Canadian Border To Remain Closed

I miss using the boat launch in Blaine.
We often do “ boat camps” in the bay. Best sunsets ever and restaurants close by.
I hope those days come back soon!

More info about the border closure this time from the American side. There are hints from this and other news I heard today that when the border reopens, there may be a need to quarantine yourself for 14 days when you enter Canada. This is the rule today for Canadians returning home from abroad. Another issue that I have heard is the inability to get travel medical insurance if you leave Canada and I would assume that the same would apply if you left the US.

This border thing is really putting a crimp in my usual boating. 95% of my time is north of the border. In the last few weeks I have read and heard of places south of me that I have never been -- some I had never even heard of

OH well, guess that looks like new cruising grounds.

Ya'll stay safe.

With the surge of Covid-19 cases in the US and with Canada for the most part getting the pandemic under control, the Canada US border is unlikely to reopen until next year based on current reports. Over 80% of Canadians surveyed do not want to see the border to reopen any time soon. I have talked to friends who have recently kayaked in Desolation Sound and they are reporting that it is really quiet without all of the American boats that are usually there. We all have worked really hard here on the north side of the border and things are beginning to open up for us and none of us wants to put that in jeopardy. Our biggest risk today is from foreign travellers coming to or returning to Canada and not self isolating. There is a mandatory 14 day self isolation period for all people entering Canada. There have also been insidents of US travellers who have made entry into Canada using the 'Alaska Loophole', saying that they were travelling home to Alaska, when really all they wanted was a Canadian vacation. Many of these travellers have been fined $1,200 and deported. My understanding is that this loophole is now highly restricted. Once we all get this mess under control, we look forward to welcoming our US neighbours and other foreign travellers to come back and visit us. Until then we will all have to play in our own backyards.

Stay Safe, Stay Healthy.

We have just pretty much blown off 2020. I'd actually like to tell this year to "F" off. We are doing minimum boating in hopes that 2021 will be a return to normal. Thanks China.

China maybe at the beginning but not any longer. The U.S. president ignored it for far too long, never had a national strategy to deal with the pandemic, and is trying to force re-opening even while cases are increasing. China did not cause any of that.

I just finished binge-watching "Ice Pilots", about Buffalo Airways out of Yellowknife. A wonderful show about some wonderful Canadians. Sometimes I wish that we would invade, and then immediately surrender. All the best to you neighbors. (and if you decide to build a wall my ladder only goes up 12 feet.)

Lots of great Canadians came here as refugees, many of them were Americans.

As the son of a refugee married to the daughter of a refugee, I understand.

And yet when your President ordered and enforced a travel ban to/from China in the extremely early stages of the pandemic, in order to control the spread...he was only to be called all sorts of insulting, racial epithets nd insults by the arrogant, condescending left.

Had he not done that, he would have been called all sorts of insulting epithets and false accusations would be hurled by the same leftists for his lack of action. You see, he cannot ever please those so filled with hatred, loathing, resentment and anger...it must suck to be so unhappy constanlty.

When your President attempted to enact or suggest a "national strategy" the governors, mayors etc of predominantly Democrat run states and cities acted like the petulant children they all are...they stomped their feet, hurled insult after insult at him and demanded they, and they alone, had the power and authority to create, enact and enforce a "strategy".

Pat, you're a smart guy. You should open your mind to facts and not listen so much to what the Communist News Network et al tells you...

"The Revolution won't happen with guns, rather it will happen incrementally,
year by year, generation by generation." - Max Horkheimer, The Frankfort
School of social research (DE), circa 1970.

The enemy is not 'out there'. It is already here amongst ourselves.

Aye.
