Two Canadian men are in federal custody after border agents seized their boat off San Juan Island Tuesday and found 130 pounds of marijuana in hidden compartments, according to federal prosecutors.

Danny Menard and Raymond Kuemper of Vancouver, B.C., are charged in U.S. District Court in Seattle with conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

According to the charging documents, the crew of a Customs and Border Protection boat spotted Menard's vessel approaching Cattle Point on the southwest side of San Juan Island. The route is a common drug-smuggling path, the charges assert.

Agents boarded the vessel and found two empty duffel bags and a strong smell of pot, the charges say. The boat was escorted to Anacortes and searched. Agents said they found 112 packages of marijuana in two compartments, in the ceiling and bilge.

Wow, Bill! That is some story. Sure glad you made it.

Seems that I have read that getting into hot water with hyperthermia could cause a problem. I seem to remember that the best thing to do is to get into a good sleeping bag or under blankets. Also, if you have someone willing to put their body next to yours that can help.

I think the Coast Guard has a special bag they use.
