CD 25 Sale Fell Out-- For Sale Again--$80K

This is an alert for anyone who may be looking for a loaded CD25.

I put the boat up for sale briefly (2 days)in this thread a couple of months ago.

I then pulled it to check out marinas in San Diego, where I would like to relocate. The San Diego possibility did not pan out, but during the brief time the boat was listed here, I had three serious e-mail buyers.

One went away when I pulled it, and another checked it out, got a demo and made a decent offer which was slightly too low.

I thought the other had gone away, but they contacted me again about a month ago. They made an acceptable offer and I prepared to take the boat south to them once paperwork, etc. was completed.

They were looking forward to spending next summer on Puget Sound with the many C-Brats up there.

Unfortunately they got some alarming results from the wife's MRI on the same day the papers were to be completed. Now all of their plans must be changed.

I'm glad that they got the results in time. They did not need the additional complication of a boat at a time like this.

At the same time, I'm kinda bummed. I hate selling things. Particularly things I like.

So, I am setting the price at $80K., which is below the prior accepted offer, and $3.5K below my prior asking price.

Briefly, it has a Honda 150 with just over 50 hours. Kicker is a Honda 15 on a bracket with about 6 hrs.

Has the aft auxiliary control station.

Full Raymarine C-80 including radar, radar platform.

Windlass, Delta anchor and rode. Marine radio. AM, FM, XM stereo.

Wallas, inverter with four batteries; 2 house, 2 running.

Full custom canvas; probably the best around.

Lots of other stuff.
 
Phantom: Sorry to see you are looking at selling your boat. Hope all is well, and you are simply just adjusting your boat inventory... :D

Looks to be the only used CD25 on the west coast now if you were to post it now... and only 2 on the east coast that I see for $65K.

If you were down to "pobably" going to sell....ya mighta coulda had a price in mind.?? :smileo

Thanks, everything is OK for the most part. The reason for the "probably" is that I'm still trying to talk myself into keeping it. So far, no luck.

The fact that the main engine only has just over 40 hours on it should give a clue to the reason for letting it go. It mostly just sits empty in its covered berth in fresh water.

Nobody has even spent one night on it.

Some other details: bottom was painted less than a year ago. It has a Pacific trailer with the guide rails. Has a swim platform on starboard side.

On price, I have not yet settled on the exact amount. We signed the order in Jan. '05 at the boat show and got a nice discounted price. According to our dealer there have been several price increases since then.

Boat was delivered on Memorial Day weekend in '05, and was still into six figures.$$

So, it will not be offered at the price of an '04 $65K stripper; there is far more value there.

Someone will be able to buy it for roughly what a stripped, plain-jane '06 would cost, or perhaps a bit less.

Don...you for sure have a great boat. Sorry... I did not mean to indicate your boat had the same value as the older boats on the east coast. I had just had an email from someone asking about used CD25s... I had refered him to this site and told him to just sort the forums for the last week and look ...that there may also be a new one about to pop up. I made the post to ensure your link just popped to the top. I also indicated him to the FOR SALE box on the bottom right of the front home page. I see exactly what you mean by looking back at my post now. That was not my intent. Trust me...when I had put my TC24 on this site for sale, I had an individual indicate that with boat, motors, trailer, full Raymarine (everything available in 2003) package, plus about another 6-7,000 in "cruising package" add ons to make it truly a cruising vessel.... he indicated he thought the price of my boat should be around 55K.... I did have to ask him just what he had been smoking.... :cigar :mrgreen:

I love your canvas top rig....particuarly the way it attaches to the radar arch and hard top. Take those two panels out...and the air flows thru the back of the cockpit, not over the top skipping the cockpit. Thanks for those photos.

Not sure why you are not using the boat either... It is too pretty to just let her sit for sure. Well, good luck if you choose to put her on the market...better luck if ya talk yourself out of it and JUST GO USE IT!!!

Hi Don,

We never got out on the delta to meet up! If you need some incentive to get out on your boat give me a call. I have 200hrs on my 04 22 but I don't think I have been for a ride in a 25. Where is your boat berthed?

If you want to get out and spend the night before you put it up for sale I know some easy places to go. Or go for the big adventure. Load her up on the trailer and follow me down to the Catalina trip!

I know - if life where only that easy. There is always something - time/money/life!

If you keep it let me know and we can meet in the Delta. If you sell someone will get a very nice boat.

Steve,(Seabran) sorry we never met on the water.

With previous boats, both larger and smaller than the CD25, I have been all over the Delta and offshore as if intending to wear them out the first year.
I even did the liveaboard bit for almost a year.

With one boat, I was surfing the big rollers beyond The Gate the first weekend I owned it. I found out WHY trim tabs are not a good idea coming down big swells. :roll:

Frankly, when we arrived here from San Diego almost two years ago it was my understanding that our temporary rental location in Danville was just that- temporary. The stated objective was to buy close to the water.I intended to hang out on the boat at every opportunity.

My wife switched jobs and now works in San Jose, FAR to the South. We eventually bought in Danville, and even that gives her a hellacious commute. Obviously we are not going North.

I moved the boat from Rio Vista to Antioch, but you must know what the traffic on Highway 4 is like. Fighting it going and coming still takes a lot of the fun out of going to the boat, so I mostly don't go.

It's a great boat and it's set up beautifully and works flawlessly. The boat is everything I wanted, but the place we live ruins it for me. Simple as that.

I should pick up the boat from the dealer tomorrow. I'll decide then.

If I should decide to keep it, or if nobody wants it, I'll certainly contact you.

Don, your boat is precisely what I'll be looking for . . . only a year or two early, that's all. I'm down in the San Diego area and will be up in Concord in early September for a (brrrr) 50th class reunion. (My first and last reunion, methinks.) I'll be hoping you keep it for a while or maybe we can touch base around 9/9.

Good god, that commute is brutal for sure! I don't have fond memories of 680 at all! Plus now you're talking about $30 in fuel every commute day even with a reasonably fuel efficient vehicle.

I'd line to take some detailed photos of your canvas as well. Got a bunch from Casey (Naknek) and plan to clone his for my '22 eventually.

Don, if it does not sell immediately, maybe I just need to daul it back down to SD and live on it for awhile.

Do you know of any marinas doing liveaboards now?

I am really SICK of the East Bay. :x

Marina Cortez on Harbor Island has liveaboard slips and several more have slips, albeit only a few designated liveaboard - including at least one in Mission Bay, but the waiting list is measured in years and a liveaboard slip is very pricey :shock: I don't know of a current moratorium on marina liveaboards though there's a big campaign to get rid of the junker liveaboards moored on the bay. I'll check a couple and find out the latest scoop next time we're in the area.

You might try going down the list in The Logand checking the waiting lists. You really have to call to ask about liveaboards though. Very few advertise that "opportunity." All allow weekend - extended weekend stays but I'm sure that isn't what you're after.

I'd hate to see you sell that beauty and buy a big overpriced Bayliner 'cause it has a transferrable liveaboard slip. :sad

Ah heck, Don, East Bay is nice if you don't mind the humid heat, live within walking distance of work, and only get on the road late at night. Even DaNerd has a plan to bail out. It just took him a lot longer to see the light than it took me!

Mem'ries....wow, can I ever relate....lived in Fremont and commuted to north SJ -- 1 hour 20 to 1 hour 40 minute commute...every stinkin day...not like that in Jefferson, Oregon :wink but now I have to drive 30 minutes to get to shopping...or an hour+ to get to Portland....but not every day :lol:

Hey !! You guys are making it harder and harder to go to work! :cry

There are a lot of dislikes about the Bay Area - traffic, too many people, traffic, High cost of living, and traffic - but this is were I live for now. :?

There are some good things about this area. You can boat on the SF bay all year long (might even be warmer in the winter). It is one of the best places to sail if you like strong winds in the summer. There is also very good kayaking in the Delta, the Bay and the ocean and there is always other kayakers to do it with. 8)

I have also made a trip to the PNW about 15 out of the last 20 years each summer. It is my favorite place to cruise and there is also good kayaking. But I have never been in the winter. :wink:

I am getting close to retirement and if I sell my high priced house and buy somewhere less expensive it might be sooner. I am thinking about an exploratory trip to Longview, Wa. Any C-Brats in that area? :shock:

I really agree with what you've said.

We loved the Bay, sailing, the weather, and the beauty of the Bay Area.

Fortunately, we lived only 3 miles across Fremont from the schools where we taught.

But the traffic, when we had to get into it, was a mess.

When I had the boat out on the other side of Stockton at Lake Amador or even at Ox Bow Marina (Isleton), we had to leave by 2:30 or get locked in traffic for several hours!

I also felt that the character of life in a small suburban like Fremont was changing in quality. Wanted out bad.....

No, I have a temporary replacement, and I really didn't mean to derail the thread into an "Escape Suburbia" diatribe either.....but we seem to be relaxed enough around here to kinda let stream of consciousness guide our discussions, and as I'm getting older, when I have a conscious stream I'm desparate to keep it going no matter to whom or about what I'm talking about!

Now as I was saying.....what were we talking about???
