Charter boats Campbell River BC

Do any of our C Brats have any suggestion for good charter boats in the Campbell river area? Specifically want to give my grandchildren exposure to salmon fishing. We want to do a half day-day charter about August 18th.

Thanks!

Bob,

I posted a question on your behalf to the Campbell River fishing thread on the SportFishing BC web site. Is there a particular reason for Campbell River? There are a lot of other options and I'd think the W. coast of the Olympic Peninsula would likely be more productive this time of year. Specifically the charters out of Westport, WA. Campbell River is known for some very large kings but they are few and far between. There's a huge run of pinks in the area right now but I'd much rather take kids coho fishing off the WA coast.

Roger,
Thanks. We are going to spend about 6 days on Vancouver Island. We will spend a couple of days around Victoria, Buchart Gardens, and whale watching. We did catch some salmon along the Campbell river on some of our trips--and had seen a number of charter boats based there, who seemed to bring in fish each time. We also would like some fairly quiet water for since one of the grandchildren has had a problem with Mal de Mar, (although not on any of our C Dorys or other boats). It is an introduction to this part of the world. We are in Sequim for about days, going to Forks for a day, and exploring the area around Sequim, where our friends have a horse ranch.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. If there is a better place within a decent drive of Campbell River (Actually Brown's Bay Ripple Rock ResortI), that would be great.

Thanks!

Hello Bob,

I am including a link to a fishing guide here in CR. His name is Fred. He has been a friend of mine and my next door neighbour for many years. He is also a very productive fishing guide. The only drawback may be that he books up quickly. He has two large welded aluminum boats (not the Harbercraft shown on his website) and has another fellow guiding for him in the other boat.
This time of year I never see him as he is so busy but if you contact him tell him I referred you through C-Brats. He'll chuckle as he knows how much of a C.Dory nut I am.
Here's the link http://campbellriverfishing.ca/
Good luck!
Cheers,
Tom
