ClueZo first wake

Finally ClueZo gets wet and we get our first wake photo (see album). We drove the two hours to Lake Koocanusa in Montana and launched at Koocanusa Resort. What a wonderful place, easy launch, lots of parking, and the truck is safe while you're out for several days.

Having spent 15 years aboard our last sailboat, staying out for three days seems short, but this is a shakedown cruise, so things had to be worked out so to speak. We tested every facet of the boat and for the most part everything worked out well.

Observations: 5000 RPM WOT, fuel consumption reasonable at cruise even better at hull speed, steering neutral, throttle control good, GPS died but came back after a total reset, sounder works well, we replaced the anchor (with a Bruce) and new rode and moved the Danforth with new rode to the stern, May do a rope to chain splice on the rode/chain junction to avoid having to get the large eye on the rode through the anchor roller.

Ordered a Achilles inflatable LT-2, it worked great for taking the dog to shore.

All in all a good time was had.

Next year I think we will take about two months do the Princess Louisa and inland passage thing, but for this year, Koocanusa is great.

Sweet!

And a beautiful area, too.

I took my C-Dory maiden voyage on a mountain lake, too. There's something about those wake shots when you first get out on your planing boat, isn't there? :D

Great short first cruise in the "new" boat. I might be a little concerned with the WOT of 5000. It is possible that weight, and the 2400 foot elevation may have contributed. What props are you running?

The summer is yet young!

Bob:
Thanks for the nice reply to our first wake post.

I agree, the boat may be over propped. The boat came with Solas Aluminum 1311-111-13. Everything I read about 22 cruisers sounds like 11 pitch and possibly four blade. We had a boat load of folks on yesterdays outing and only showed 4500 RPM WOT (7 people), so she is suffering a little.

What would be your recommendation for a trim tabs only boat (soon to have permatrims)with twin Honda 40.
