Cockpit hand rails

I have searched the Forum on Cockpits and couldn't find the info I need. Does anyone have a link to a site for the 12" hand rails that are vertically mounted to the rear of the cabin on both port and starboard sides? I want to replace them with 24" hand rails and move the 12" rails to the top of the cabin on the eyebrow at the front of the cabin roof to provide a little more support when we have to go forward for anchor or just to sit. We find that we have to grab onto the eyebrow after the top rail ends to stabilize while making our way forward. The rails have a sweep 90 degree curve to them. Thanks in advance for any help.

The teak handrails are standard, wherever you buy them, in terms of sizes and spacing, even being the same for sail and power boats. Pretty much a universal replacement item.

A good single part polyurethane paint can go a long way to making them last.

It's much easier when they're new, of course, compared to sanding down the old ones.

I put 9 coats on my old ones after sanding them down to new wood in about 2002, and they still look good, though the polyurethane is shrinking some.

Thin the first coat some to promote deep penetration, then sand lightly between coats for adhesion and flattening.

As I recall the factory is now using the longer SS handrails at the cockpit entry. It might be worthwhile to contact them. I put two of the 12 inchers on the brow as you will be doing. They are a very good addition.

The addition of ~12" handles on the brow has been around for quite a while.

Yellowstone John had them on the Far West II, back at least 8 years or more ago, and so did RedFox (Greg).

In fact, RedFox also had a pair of about 18 inch long ones on the cabin trunk along the sides of the hatch, where you're really in "no man's land" between the cabin and the bow rail. Now those could be a real life saver in rough seas!

I've got mine (both pair) ready to go, just need to find the time to install them. Flat water inland fresh water lakes don't give me the sense of urgency I'd have on salt water.

I ordered my boat from EQ marine and Les installed a hand rail package that included hand rails on the cabin roof and a rail across the transom well.

The rails on the top attach to the bolts holding the rail on the roof. They are stainless and since you mount with existing hardware, no new holes.

You might look into these for ease of mounting and function. The port rail extends the distance of the cabin and the starboard rail ends behind the helm seat.

I am happy with them all on my angler.
