COFFEE

I have had good luck by vacuum-bagging whole or ground beans using my Food-Saver. I don't think a Zip-Lock bag is really very airtight. Freezers tend to really dry things out if any air can get in the bag. Most coffee comes packaged in a bag with a valve in it so they are not really airtight. I have kept it frozen up to two months and it tasted fine.
 
We cone-drip and drink a mega cuppa every morning -- no problem storing -- nothing much to store -- problem is finding a biffy.
 
The problem now is finding good course ground coffee. I don't like the fine grind in the percolater pot.
And, yes, as noted above -- any additives is too much---- as I always said, "coffee ain't coffee, 'les it's coffee"
 
...er, what's a 'biffy ??

For those of you who haven't observed the Professor making the Admiral's coffee in the morning (...yea, Every morning!), you're in for a treat.

Really, it's not that difficult:
Step 1: use approximately 1.5 pounds of fresh ground high-octane coffee
Step 2: pour scalding water every-so-slowly into the Melitta filter gizmo
Step 3: gently hand over the steaming first cup to the Admiral.
Step 4: Watch her spool-up to full operating speed....!
Step 5: Using the same grounds, there is Plenty of coffee remaining for an additional 8-10 cups of stout coffee!
NOTE: for those of you who served in the Navy - by the time you get down to about cup #5 or #6 the brew is fully qualified "Navy Coffee" ...just like the 'ol Chief used to drink!

Yep, as any sailor knows, one needs to keep the Admiral happy -- so the morning coffee ritual is essential in our cruising lifestyle -- and Casey's description is exactly right.

And, yes, the biffy is indeed the head -- and consuming such potent brew requires a few runs to the biffy in response.
 
Coffee is a life staple. We had an 1800 watt inverter installed on Cocoon so we could use a small one cup Keurig coffee maker on board.

Heck, just perk it the night before and reheat it.
If it was good coffee to begin with, it's good hot,
cold, or reheated. :wink
Anyone who wont drink reheated coffee is drinking "Bilge"
to begin with. :sad

A propane powered coffee maker...anyone tried one?

I am coffee, have to have it, Star Bucks instant is excellent. Just try it and I'm sure you'll agree. I am a 16 Cruiser as well so I have to work with my limited space and recourses.
 
We have gone to the Aeropress and a butane stove. Quick, easy and almost no clean up.
Have a French Press, but it is harder to clean up.

The aero press is great!! We use to boil water before bed and put it in a Stanley thermos, when we woke up we could use the aero press and the coffee was still too hot to drink. The Christmas expresso blend from Starbucks is awsome. If you can find some it's 50% off!

Get an electric kettle and you'll have coffee in about 3 min. Depends on your electrical set up.

No the French guy is not flipping you off, and yes he makes the best coffee around. We use these at home, on the boat, camping, and take with us on vacation. This one is the large 12 cup, cups as in espresso cups.
