Did a little crabbing in the fog today on the Columbia River with another C-Brat couple who trailered down from Portland.

Tom and Rene on Primative:

And TyBoo's catch - about 9 pounds (after we ate some while cracking it) or $260 worth at Costco's fresh price.

Looks like it calmed down a little out there...
That is a good haul. Where do you go? I have crabbed by the A jetty with good results, but haven't tried anywhere else.

I always set the pots between B20 and B22, just on the south side of the red line in 40'-50' of water. We try to drop them a couple hours before high tide, or sometimes low tide, and then anchor near shore until slack.

The tide was in the afternoon today so we fixed toasted cheese sandwiches for lunch. We picked up 7 legals with the crab ring while we waited.

The wind was very light today but there were some pretty good ocean swells coming in up as far as Hammond. And foggy, foggy. It was thicker on the way back than it was in the morning.
