Crabby Lou
Hi, we have been following this site for quite some time! We just brought our new-to-us C-Dory 16 Angler home today - she's a 1992, with a 40 hp Johnson main and an 8 hp Johnson kicker, and used to live on the Key Peninsula. We will mostly be using her for crabbing and maybe some fishing around Birch Bay. Hope to see some of you out there!

She looks great! Welcome, pull a stool up to the the bar and sit a spell. Lots of great info on here, and a whole bunch of 16 lovers.

Yes, I do have an evil twin who has been known to make reeb, now that you mention it...

And I thought only a salmon would take bait like that! :embarrased :embarrased

Bunch of 16 lovers on here now in addition to Cat Guy. Cool looking boat, Pat. Great crab boat -- and might even catch fish.

Yes, I really need to pick Brock's brain now...crabbing and fishing at Birch Bay, still have to get Yttap's mind wrapped around a little (economical) cruising in her too...she does not quite see all the possiblities yet, but we will give her time to come around - BTW, she was MAJOR on-board with buying this boat!

Also should mention, she came with a couple of rod holders and a manual downrigger...now somebody will have to explain how to use it.

Swell... so now we have to have TWO C-Dorys to hang out here?

Doog gnikool taob, Tap. In this particular language, shouldn't that be a "61"?

Probably wouldn't take much to change that cute blue trim out to some "wine" color, huh? 8)

Best wishes,<br>

Nice boat and nice to see that ya'll got a Johnson hangin' off there! (Always good to have additional members in the Johnson Power Club!)

By the way...........since you are posting under your new name, I'm sure that you realize that you are making it easier for the Ca. Guy to catch up with you in numbers of "posts". Of course you may fool him (although not likely) enough that he'll forget to add up your postings under both handles and think that he is exceeding your posts when in fact he isn't.

(Oh yeah.....this posting just helped me achieve entry in the "1000 Club").

I just showed the First Mate your new vessel and all of the postings above and she laughingly said, "yep, we're in the redneck yacht club!"

Second C-Dory is strictly optional! But we DID find, sadly, with the price of gas and all, for both towing and running, the CD25, as great as it is for cruising, whether to Alaska or just out to the San Juans or Puget Sound, is overkill for crabbing at Birch Bay for folks who live 135 miles south in Fall City. We considered a couple of less expensive options - but then, we also figured (as your recent experience so clearly points out), you only go around once, no "do-overs" - if we are going to spend a day on the water, damn it, we are going to really enjoy it!

Yes, we should chat about the Johnson Power Club - and Patty has a question about a denaming ceremony for a boat that we have no idea what happened to...

The first Crabby Lou I knew was a 14 ft Featherlite boat that Pat and Patti had at Birch Bay. This was later replaced by a 16 ft Smoker Craft "Crabby Lou II". Which was replaced by a 22 ft C-Dory named Daydream, which was replaced by a C-Dory 25 also named Daydream. (All properly named, denamed, and renamed).

I bought the original Crabby Lou from Pat and replaced her with a 16 ft Starcraft, which was replaced by a 22 ft C-Dory (Anna Leigh) which turned into a 25 ft C-Dory also named Anna Leigh. (All properly named, denamed, and renamed as well).

Tap,

Welcome to the group. As far as I know you are the first C-Dory to be named Crabby Lou. I am sure there will be a post from Pat (Birch Bay also).

Even though Tyboo generously made it easier for us to locate the "denaming ceremony", I am unable to download it. I keep getting a notation that states "This file is damaged and could not be prepaired".

So, until the proper document is "repaired" we'll have to sit tight on this one.

Having to wait for the "repair" however, is not entirely a bad thing as it is going to take some time before I can master the ability to speak the language required for this particular vessel's ceremony. (Do you think that it would be permissible for me to just turn my back to everyone during this ceremony, rather than spending money on a speech therapist?).

Dave - I think you must've busted your Adobe. I can download it just fine. You can find it at its original location right here. Unless you broke your browser, too. If you can't find it on any of the internets, just go over to Oak Harbor and visit the guy who made it up.

Looks like I'll have to be using that Denaming Ceremony myself someday on the Sea Ray, although I haven't decided on a final name. I'm thinking "Funny Farm" might just have the right over-balance between seriousness and humor.

She has "Mirage" accross her transom now, which kind of fits a off-while boat with light green and grey trim. Looks like something that could appear and disappear easily in the fog, which we have once every few years on Shasta Lake. Let's see, I used the radar back in 2004 the last time......should be due this or maybe next year.

Pat- How many feet of boats do you now have, 25 + 16 = 41?

I've got 26.5 + 24 + 22 + 14 = 86.5 plus two 11 foot kayacks, = 108.5 ft.

How about the rest of you folks?

Joe.

Thanks Mike, I was able to download the ceremony from this recent posting of yours.

I'm thinking that you are correct on this. About a month ago, I began having difficulty downloading a few things that were related to adobe.
So, what's a non-computer nerd to do now?......go to New Mexico and tear someone's house down and bring it back and throw it at my computer? :disgust
