cruise curtain

Just bought a 16 Angler and think I'd like a cruise curtain with a roll up centered door. I have a green hull and would like the material portion to match hull . I've contacted a guy that does my upholstery and he says ~ 850.00 installed using sunbrella material. Is this reasonable? Any recommendations?

Taking the boat out for the first time this weekend, wish me luck.

Welcome to the C-Brats and congratulations on the purchase of a 16 angler. You're gonna love that boat! You might check with Churchill Bros up in Everett. They are not inexpensive but they do excellent work. Let us know what they quote. Do you have a slip in Edmonds or are you trailering? Again, welcome.

I would get several bids--a lot depends on how much work you want--the windows, zippers etc. The $850 sounds pricey. The amount of Sunbrella is not much--maybe 4 yards at the most, could be as little as 2 yards of 60" wide material. Sunbrella is running retail at $25 a yard for 60" wide and $22 a yard for 46" wide material. You need zippers, binding and perhaps some clear vinyl. For $850 you can set yourself up in business. (including a machine, setting tools, thread, material etc) This is a fairly easy project to start on, if you want to learn the skills. You have to balance this against working with someone who you know.

Congratulations on the Angler 16. I bought an 87 last year and had a ton of fun all summer cruising the Souther Gulf Islands in BC. You are going to love that boat. I was quoted $1200 up here for a full Camperback so $850 sounds a little steep to me.
Cheers

Contrat's again. I just got an Angler 16 in Dec., and I love it! Mine came with a drop curtain, and it's very nice if it's cold out. Mine zips in the middle, and if I had my choice I'd do the two zipper roll up door option like you're thinking. I've used a little buddy heater too and it was very comfy boating on Tahoe in the mid 40's. Sorry I can't help you out on price, but I couldn't help telling you how much I think you'll love your boat.
