Cruise/Swap Meet

Tell me if this a stupid idea. What if at one of our cruises that we could have people bring boat things they might want to trade/swap/sell (cheap of course) at one of our cruises. I know room can be an issue but I was thinking of smaller stuff maybe even fishing gear. Crazy idea or any interest?
 
PS_ Rick,

We could even just post what we have on the cruise thread and see if there are any takers before going. The way some of these Pubbies are always upgrading, you could probably pick up some barely used stuff.

He will never get ride of it. It is a historical treasure in CDory lore and will need a majority vote of the online members to remove it. He can mount his new radar on the top of his old one, now there would be a sight.
 
Hey now, wait a minute Dusty. That big dome would make a great roof top storage box. True story, (not you this time Tim) a family of Canadian's at Victoria harbor really thought that's what it was. :smile

Great Idea Fred! Leo, could bring his 18.8 Toland and we could all get to see him again. We could even look over his fine vessel again and maybe someone would buy it!
 
Having recently cleaned out my garage and moved, I have accumulated several boxes of nautical treasures that might be of value to some of you. I still have some artifacts from a sailboat I owned 11 years ago! The best boater's swap meets are the fall and spring ones sponsored by 48 North Magazine and located at the Mariner's Square (Crow's Nest) parking lots. The next one is scheduled for Saturday, April 4th. I have heard that the serious selling starts at 2:00 am the morning of the sale, with most of the good stuff sold out by 9:00 am. Perhaps this could be another excuse for a C-Brat gathering with some serious pre-dawn bargain hunting, followed by a hearty breakafast at Voula's Offshore Cafe.

I don't know if this qualifies but would anyone be interested in a WW2 naval sextant with accessories and enclosed in the original wooden box? I somehow ended up with one and would give it to anyone who had an interest in such things.

Leo, now breakfast at Voula's Offshore Cafe brings back lots of good memories of when we lived across the street at Washington boat center. We are going to be in Hawaii during that time or we would be there. Sounds like a great time.
 
Chuck, we need more stuff around this place like I need a hole in my head, but that thing may fit nicelly with our collection of old survey equipment....need a bow roller old anchor rode? I'll swap ya....how about a colman canoe?

No thanks on the bow roller or anchor rode.....the Coleman Canoe would have interested me 40 years ago. The sextant is yours for nothing if you want it. It should go to someone who'll appreciate it. On second thought I'd take a beer when I give it to you.

speaking of Colman canoes, I got one, free, U-Haul, hull is in great shape, the aluminum tube down the keel has an electrollis issue and needs replaced. this thing has great historical value as it was once owned (and you can still make out the letters) by Rancho Rajeneese. the price is right....Dave S. I know you love canoes :)
 
two beers, nothing less. Thanks a bunch, it will be appreciated, we have the start of a collection of old books and tools that deal with engineering, surveying and the like, that would be a cool addition. now I wish I could find an old steam shovel.....ya....like I have room for that

I have a 2003 CD-22 that I keep at Tomahawk Island. I will be unable to make Cathlamet due to a prior engagement (seeing my 81 year-old mother back in the Midwest). Anyway I'm due for a get-together with the C-Brats soon. I've really enjoyed the info and camaraderie of this site and if the people who I've read about here are half as obnoxious, unfriendly and stodgy as they appear in print I can hardly wait!

You've heard of "living vicariously" haven't you? Well, if I would have known about this site with documentation of the trials and tribulations of Tyboo Mike and how easy it was to turn on my PC and be entertained every day I could have saved the price of my CD-22!!
