Cumberland River Fall 2009

We are starting to make plans for a Fall Cumberland River trip. Fall break from school is Monday and Tuesday 10/19-20, so we will probably launch on Friday evening 10/16 and pull out on Tuesday afternoon 10/20.

Since our first trip on the Cumberland was up river, our initial thought is to launch at Lone Branch (mile 233) and go down river with an overnight in Nashville, but we are still in the planning stages and are open to suggestions. We are pretty set on going on these dates because of the school break, but would certainly enjoy company for part or all of the trip if anyone is interested.

Hi Rob,
Keep is Posted on this, we have a lot going on in Sept. but you don't know what will happen by then.
Sounds like it would be a good Trip on the River.
Jim

Hi Rob,

Are you planning to go as far north as Lake Barkley? If so, I highly recommend Buzzard Rock Marina at Mile 39.5 on the right descending bank. Because of a scheduled all hands drill I would not be able to get a boat in the water, but I may be able to get on the bike for a day ride.

Randy

Hi Rob,

Let me know how your plans progress. If you happen to venture north on the Cumberland I might be able to hook up with you at some point.

Hi Rob,
Mike and I would like to meet up with you sometime on your trip.
We are doing the Upper Cumberland Sept.4 through Sept. 13. Leaving the house friday the 4th, locking thru Cordell Hull on the 5th and slowly going up past Celina.
With Mike still working and taking our vacation in September I don't know if we can get extra time in October but Nashville is a day trip for us so we might just head downtown on that weekend.
Enjoyed being with you and Karen couple of years ago and look foward to seeing you again.

Hi All,

We are not sure how far down river we will make it since we then have to turn around and make it back to the launch point by Tuesday afternoon. Maybe we will make it to Clarksville...that would be a little over 200 river miles in four days.

We would also be willing to go up river instead if that would make it more attractive to others. We have only been up river once, and that was a couple years ago, so we could certainly do that again. We just need to take advantage of the days off of school/work with some boat time one way or the other.

We will bring this thread back to the top a little closer to the date to see if there is any interest.

Take care,

Rob, Karen & Riley

hello rob,
linda and i would love to attend this outing. dates are good and see no reason why we couldn't make it. i've actually been encouraging byrdman to put together something just like this, so maybe he'll breakdown and join in on the fun. keep us informed on how plans are proceeding.
best regards
pat

Now yall know how hard it is to get me going on a river trip... Grin.

Will just have to see how some things go. I have another extended trip out west to Oak Harbor/EQ once our little project out there is complete, and that should be around mid-August time frame, and I will have to take about 10 days for a trip out and back for that... and, every time we thought we had a good time line laid down, other things change...so we have to change..but, quality takes time.

Also, the Auburn/KU game is in Auburn that weekend of 17th Oct....but, I may just give my next door neighbor the tickets.... He and his wife are big time KY fans and I am not sure they have ever experienced a game on Auburn's campas... and that is something folks really need to do in life. War Eagle!!

Up river, down river, makes no difference to me...and...closer to time, we may even just look at making a launch at one point, make a van run/flip-flop and drive the tow rigs to Mt. Juliet (around MM 233 - MM 236 area)... and head to them from which ever end we start. Or not. Grin.

But fall trips on the river are awesome. Those of you who have made this cruise with our groups in the past I think have truly enjoyed it. Those of you who may have pulled your boats for the winter months up north... come on down for a great run and fun.

Thanks for cranking this up Rob. Hope to be there with you.

Hi Rob,

We are planning a fall trip on the Cumberland and would enjoy meeting some C-Brats and the time frame is just great. Let us know more details as the time approaches.

Cumberland River Cruise 16-20 Oct 2009???
Gotta put this one on the maybe list gang..

I depart Thursday, 27 Aug for Annapolis to board a 44' Kadey Krogen and help bring her down the eastern coast, around/thru FL, cross the Gulf Coast from the Ft. Myers area to the Apalachicola/East Point area, west over to Mobile, up river to Joe Wheeler State Park..... and today, no way I can predict what the weather and all other conditions, mixed with some time back home during this journey .... just where and when I will be. A long trip at 6-7 knots....but somebody has to go ruff it and I stepped up for the duty.

I know I will return to be able to be in Knoxville for the AUBURN/UT game (War Eagle... I can not help where I was born...but I can control who I cheer for)........ This game is on the weekend of 3Oct09..... so good chance I will just have to join this Cumberland cruise via the C-Brat site.

Yall have a great time if I miss it...and for those who have not made the trip...it is a very nice trip.

Safe Travels...

We will be heading up river and would like to join you at McGregor park and continue on with the upriver portion of the cruise. If the dates are pretty firm, we will make reservations. Let us know if this is ok with you folks.

Hi Rich & Judy,

That would be great if you could join us. The number for the McGregor Park Courtesy Dock is 931-645-7476...ask for Beverly. There is no fee, but a reservation is required. We also called Rock Harbor Marine at 615-356-1111 to make a reservation. A reservation is not required, but we figured it could not hurt. They charge $1 per foot.

Not sure what your plans are, but we found out that Old Hickory Lock will be closed for maintenance from 10/27-11/17/09. Call 615-736-5607 if you need more information.

Maybe we can exchange cell phone numbers via private message.

Looking forward to the trip,

Rob, Karen & Riley

I keep moving this up thinking someone might see it and decide to join us....like the Byrds, Brigners, Porters, Russells, Jim & Sandy on Pandy Girl, Tom on C-Breeze, or Patrick & Linda on Misty Seas. Two weeks from today we go.
