DAY 1. Bellingham to Chuckanut Bay. We launched Friday, August 12, from Bellingham about 5:30 p.m., about a week later than we had planned due to trailer issues! So our first night was in Chuckanut Bay, a gorgeous little spot closeby. It has a little beach at the head of the Bay where I take Baxter for his exercise and constitutional! No cell service, hence no internet connection at Chuckanut Bay.

DAY 2. Chuckanut Bay to Tombolo Cove, Decatur Island. Tombolo Cove is just one of the most beautiful anchorages in the San Juans! It is the little cove formed by the tombolo between Decatur and the Nature Preserve just north of Lopez Pass. We dropped our crab pots in Lopez Sound on the way in. No cell service at Tombolo Cove, either!

DAY 3. Tombolo Cove. When the tide was high, we went back out to Lopez Sound to check our crab pots - hit the jackpot (for us anyway), a limit of 10 dungies, with a few really big ones. We decided to stay here another day and dropped our pots again. I whack them in the middle and then pull them apart to go on ice until we can cook them. We are finding we are ice self-sufficient with our ARB freezer. We still have our butane stove, but we are now cooking almost everything on a one burner Coleman in the cockpit. It is amazing to me how much more cooking we get out of a one pound propane cylinder compared to the little butane cylinders. Crab for breakfast, lunch and dinner for awhile!

DAY 4. Tombolo Cove to Blind Island. We pulled our pots on the way out and got 5 more dungies, then slow cruised to Blind Island just off the Shaw Island ferry terminal. There is another C-Dory here, Lucille, with Steve and Judy from Eugene, OR. I rowed over to say hello! They are on their way to the Gulf Islands. This ferry came into the Shaw Island ferry terminal while we were having our sundowners! We have cell service here, so we are catching up on a few days of C-Brats, emails and Facebook!

This afternoon we will head for Matia Cove, then back to Chuckanut Bay for Wednesday night, and Thursday back to Bellingham to get ready for the Bellingham CBGT. Sunday we will be back out cruising for another four days or so. Weather has been spectacular, and we are having a blast!
