Dropped our 25 C-Dory that we have an offer pending on in the water, and had no power at the dash. "Darn" I thought- "Dead batteries".
Wrong- wing nuts.
So here's the reminder for everyone.
Do not use wing nuts on batteries. Use regular nuts with lock washers.
In fact, the use of wing nuts can void your Evinrude warranty. A loose connection can create volatge problems and can damage engine electronics on any of the brands.
So while we're all doing the spring thing, and moving into summer, check the batteries for water, and check the posts for proper connections.
BTW- installed the nuts and washers and the boat ran great. Sea trial today with potential buyer, and may wind up with a nice 22 Cruiser on consignment.
