Yes, no doubt if you are getting a package deal, this is a great option. If someone were to just buy the OB pilot, there are better deals than Cabelas. Lowrance rebates still apply, but not the store incentives.
 
I ordered a 2x3 foot bamboo "rug" from Home Depot for $13.99. It will go outside the door into the cabin. Came with its own little carry-sack, too. This is made of bamboo slats so it's not fabric. Haven't tried ityet -- may get slippery if wet, but at that price it was worth trying.

I have to say that for charging the batteries, the boat engine is much better than a portable generator (at least compared to the Honda 1000). The only time a generator is really useful is if you need 120 VAC or want to use it when "boater homing" and can't run the main engine.

Not related to "deals"--or any judgement on this inverter generator.
But we do use the portable (Honda EU 1000i) for battery recharging when cruising on the water, since the Honda 90 outboard (Pre 2007) only puts out 17 amps, minus what is used by the engine, and boat electronics etc). We use a 30 amp battery charger to keep freezer/refer battery charged.
 
We've had 2 Honda 2000i generators (and parallel cord) for many years and they haven't been really worked out since Katrina in 2005 (for 2 weeks continously then), using ethanol free boat gas. I've had many generators at half the cost, and, inevitably, at half the quality, and noisey and smokey to boot. If it were possible to build a Honda 2000i unit at a cheaper price, then Honda would be the first to do so. Capitalism (which Honda is very good at) does not involve selling an equivalent product at a much higher price. It's about selling a far superior product at a fair price. Ask Apple. It's very easy to find Honda generator fans, and almost impossible to find hard-core fans of any of the multiple Chinese knock-offs. As in so many cases, I've found (through hard, tough, expensive experience) that It Pays In the Long Run to Buy Quality the First Time. Your Milage May Vary. See the Consumer Reports 2016 Generators ratings for ratings more objective than mine. Buy the Honda; with reasonable maintaince and ethanol free gas, your grandchildren will be using it.
Regarding Deals, Flir just came out with a TK day/night thermal imaging model for $600. Will some Brat beat me to it and say it's worth it? Please?

OK John, I'll bit--The Flir Scout for $599 is worth it. I have one I paid $2,000 for about 5 years ago. The current one is 160 x 120 VOx Microbolometer with USB download of images. The one I have is 240 x 180 Vox Microbolometer no download. For all practical purposes the new one is a better scope even though the image resolution is slightly less, at a little more than 1/4 of the price.. There are other color resolution features which help to make the new Scout TK more useful.

They said it will be shipped by third week in June. We'll see. Not in any rush for it as we have a Coleman we currently use.
 
RTIC coolers? Anyone have one? Yes, I know they are cheap Chineese knockoffs, but from other forums, it sounds like they are made solid and compare to the Yeti. They have a 65 quart one for $199.99. (Half the price of the Yeti). I did go ahead and order, but they take over a month to ship. (backordered). Again, other forums have indicated that while slow to get, there is no scam and once received folks have been happy with them. For more info:

Let me know how you like it. I have read the reviews and it seems like they are pretty much a clone of the Yeti--for much less.

I have looked at all of the Yeti substitutes and the RTIC is the one I may buy.

Me too. Super useful. I'm probably going to get an electric hauler, so the eu1000 will be doing extra duty.

FWIW, I have several honda generators of various power and they always outlast the others, even those with honda motors. They seem to be, far and away, the least expensive to own over their lifetime, but do cost a bit more up front.

So I finally received my new 65qt RTIC cooler that I ordered in May. I am pretty happy with it, although we'll see how well it works later this week. I didn't like that they take your money right away, but from everything I've read, it sounds like they make good on the shipping, pretty much on schedule as when they say you'll receive it. I was told the end of June, but I did receive it two days ago. Here is a photo:

It does fit in the frame I had with the 100qt cooler that came with my boat. The dimensions are:

Outside: Bottom 30" x 15"
Top 32" x 18", with the lid lip (to hold on to when you open it) extending another 3/4". It's 17.5" tall.

Inside: Average 25.5" x 12.5" average. (Just a little smaller in the bottom and a little larger in the top) 13" height.

The unit feels well built, and it a bit heavy at about 25 lbs. (empty).
In any case, even at $200 it's probably over priced, but still quite a bit less than a Yeti.
 
Ditto. We just got ours yesterday. Exactly the same as yours. $199 with free freight. Well built and solid. It will be our primary cooler for food items and we will use a smaller one for drinks; one we can move into the cabin to spread the weight. I'm happy with the purchase considering our other Coleman cooler of comparable exterior size was over $100 and is much flimsier in build/insulation.
