Dinette seat to bed conversion.

We have a 2004 Cruiser with the front facing seat conversion. We took it out for the first time, and tried to make down the table into a bed. Try as we may, we could not figure out the right cushion pattern to make it into a even surface. Either there were huge gaps or they rode up and over one another. I have seen others that fit a huge cushion down over the table top, but ours does not have this cushion?? There is also a huge gap between the table top and the gunnel. What is the deal? Surely there has to be a combination that I am missing! Any suggestions?

The bed is made up with the four passenger-side seat cushions - the two seat bottom cushions and the seat back cushions. I assume that you have the same problem that we had in attempting to put the bed together on our '05 cruiser - one of quality control at the factory or wherever the cushions were made.

In our case the seat back cushions were not made tall enough, causing a 4" fore-and-aft gap when the bed was made, necessitating Marcia, my wife, to make another four inch wide cushion to fill in the gap. I am not sure about the gap between the hull side and the cushions though as you don't give a measurement. On page two of our album is a picture of our solution that will show how close the cushions are to the inside of the hull.

On our '05 the seat bottom cushion on the forward seat has to be oriented correctly for things to fit. As far as I know '05 was the first year the factory made the front facing seat an option. On an '04 I dunno.
 
We secured a brace against the cabin wall at the height of the table when lowered and cut a piece of wood to fit the 6 inch or so gap between the cushion and the wall. That made it a little more comfortable but it'll never be great.
 
On my 09, the table drops, the two back seat cushions come into play, and the factory provided an infill (about the same size as a back seat cushion).
I store the infill in a v-berth locker.
