Does anybody know this Florida 23' Venture?

It is listed by a company that has a less than stellar reputation on "the hull truth" and other sites. I guess their tactic is to contact sellers directly and then markup the price by 30-40%.

I'm just curious if a fellow c-brat owns the boat. If anybody knows who it is or if the owner is reading this, please PM me.

Where's the reference information? To what boat are you referring to? Link?

Thanks!

I suspect that he is referring to the 2009 Venture 23 listed by POP yachts for $75,000. If you go to the Hull Truth, there are speculations, a statement by one of the owners of P O P yachts and some statements from folks who have attempted to buy or sell boats thru them. The consesis is that the price is often a bit more than an owner is listing for for elsewhere....But some folks have had a good experience selling a boat. And others feel that they have been ripped off.

The price seems a bit high to me, but I have no knowledge of that boat. I would look at the boat in person, hire an independent good surveyor (not recommended by the broker) and then do a sea trial. Be sure you are clear on who pays for what, and specifically what costs are.

Although I know that it irks some brokers, I prefer to buy from a private party.

The fact that you can't look at enlarged images without signing up for their web site I think speaks volumes....

I've seen a few different boat brokers (or rather, boat selling websites) that make potential buyers sign up to see more or enlarged photos. I always wonder if the seller knows about this (not that they couldn't figure it out by trying out their ad), and/or realizes how off-putting it can be. I mean, if I'm selling something, I want to make it easy to see, not make a potential buyer jump through unnecessary hoops.

There was a 22 Cruiser for sale through POP when I was looking. It fit my parameters pretty well, but the sign up and general feeling of the selling site took it off the table for me. Seems a shame.

There are a lot of used car dealers that do the same.

I've always assumed it was done to get your email address for future mailings, promotions, etc.

I almost always refuse to do it, unless I really want to see the details badly.

The boat looks very nice .I would find out what other dealers are selling a new one for ? 75k I think you could almost buy a new one for that .?
We love our cc-23 (venture hull)good economy, about the same as my cd-22 3.8-5 mpg about 1000lb more pounds to pull. we pull ours with a 07 toyota sequoia. all around great boat .

I think $75K would get you a well equipped 22, probably not a 23.

Most brokers and dealers use Boat Trader or Yachtworld as their main marketing efforts because both are so well known. Having a website requiring a sign up is designed precisely to get your contact information. Unless there is some value added reason to sign up, I wouldn't do it.

If someone is interested in a new 23V , I have one and its less than 75k with a Suzuki 150 and nice aluminum trailer with full warranties, windlass trim Tabs etc..........
We also have a new 25C with options for 99k .

I agree that having to register to view boat details is off putting. Yet there are good dealers out there who sell boats on commission. I've bought boats from both Les at EQ and Marc at Wefings and have been very satisfied. if you do your homework and c-brats give you good info, the right broker can work well.

Yeah, that is why I was posting about the boat, trying to find more info on her. I agree with everybody that she is way over priced. I was trying to track down the boat and the owner to see just how large of a markup they were doing on her. As for Les and Marc, my dealings with both through the years over email have been nothing but positive and both have been very straightforward.
