I've recently purchased a kicker motor, and my 22' Cruiser came with the ladder and platform on the port side. the handles are on that side too. seems like a big pain to move them. does anyone have a kicker on the starboard side? not sure what options I have since I'm new to this boat. any help or photos would be greatly appreciated

Both my previous 22 and my current 25 have the kicker on the starboard side. Not a problem. If you can find it, my photo album for Midnight Flyer, (my previous 22), has an embedded album of my kicker install on that boat.

Tyboo or DaNag, has any improvement been made on categorizing our photo albums? I was trying to find Midnight Flyer's nested album on its kicker install, and didn't have any luck finding that album or photos.

Not yet, @colbysmith. I’m too old and @Da Nag is too busy but he ain’t getting any younger so he’d best be getting after it. I’m afraid we might find it won’t ever get as good as you want but I’ll leave it to Will to break the news.

I was just going to grab photos from my computer files and upload a few here, but then realized that in cleaning up my computer I deleted all my Midnight Flyer photos. Probably not one of my smarter moves! (I figured since I had put most my mods in albums here, and sold that boat, I didn't need them anymore....) I have one more external hard drive of backups that I may have placed them on, and will have to check later. In any case, I still like the updated C-Brats site, so not complaining.... but I'm sure there was a lot of other great information in those past albums. Colby

I also have put all of my kickers on the port side. Most of these have been light weight. If you remove the swim platform (I recommend that you not remove it), you will have to fill those holes.

I just put a Suzuki 6hp kicker on the starboard side hooked right to the transom and it works great. It was a tight fit getting the clamps over the transom on the 22 as there's maybe an 1/8" to spare.

BUT, I ordered a 6hp longshaft not knowing that Suzuki already has added 2 extra inches to their short and longshaft small engines and hence I could have bought the short shaft, which comes in both black and white (the longshaft only is available in black) and the ventilation plate of the shortshaft would have lined up less than an inch above the bottom of the boat which is perfectly okay for a kicker! The shortshaft would also keeps the bottom of the engine well out of the water when tilted up. Additionally, the engine also hooks to the boat gas tanks at the fuel/water separator or uses it's internal tank.

I installed my kicker on the starboard side to keep the port swim step clear of rigging. When trolling I steer the kicker from the helm using a tie rod to the main with a wireless Accutroll throttle controller installed on the kicker.
