Dogon long trip

You take some dogon good pics, Dan. It's good to hear you made it safely, boat and all. Now you goit the summer ahead of you.

I second your praise for the Sportcraft guys. I bought a used CD from them a few years back, and they treated me as if I were buying new.

Welcome home, Dan,

Those great photos show that you had a beautiful ride both ways on the Alaska Highway. Anyone who hasn't driven that route is missing a lifetime experience with the panoramas and varied wildlife on view.

That's too bad about the rock chips on your windshield. When we brought C-Farer back from Haines, I bought a sheet of rigid styrofoam at Home Depot. I cut it into three pieces to fit the front windows and jury-rigged a rope and duct tape harness system. When we got back to North Pole, there were two big dents in the foam that came from pretty good-sized rocks. The stuff did a good job of protecting the glass.

Seee you on the sound.

Cool pics!! I can't imagine driving both ways, must have made for a long trip. Great looking boat. I love the boat armor that you put on. I just had a sheen of ice to protect mine. It was ugly and brown but it did the job. Glad to hear you made it back with no mishaps..Man your lucky!

Dan-

Exactly, or thereabouts, how long is the trip? How's the gas availability?

Are there many interesting lakes to visit in the summer? Besides the Inland Passage accesses at Prince Rupert and Valdez/Whittier/Seward, are there other access points for other fun excursions?

What do you think of a 1-3 month camping/boating trip up the AlCan (sp.?) Highway to add variety to the traditional all-water trip to Alaska?

Should one sign up with a mosquito repellent manufacturer as a TEST DUMMY??? HMMMM...?Joe.

Wow! Quite the trip I'd say. Sounds like you have some catching up to do in the liquid as opposed to asphalt. Enjoyed the photograpy. Dog pics too, esp the pup pics.

We were at Sportcraft on 4-22-05 to check out our new cd25 undergoing its final outfit and witnessed a sea lion pull a springer off an angler's line right off the marina in the middle of the Willamette. I was expecting to see the fisherman react...... all I saw was a very shocked look and a very wide open jaw. (on the fisherman)

We are hopeful that we will be taking the shake down this weekend and anticipate meeting with the brats on Lopez. (with the new boat)

Don

Dan.......CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

What a great bunch of pictures and I know that is a fun trip, especially with a new C-Dory tagging along! It looks like another good spring trip on the Alcan with the usual road side (or on the road) flock of sheep at Muncho. You must have had some pretty good weather since your new baby did not appear to be completely repainted "Alcan Brown".

Hope to get a chance to see the new "Dogon Dory" with all of the goodies in late June. Should be in FBX somewhere around the 27/8 th and will give you a call.

Doug (With tender on order)

Hi Doug,

I'ver been meaning to ask you: where do you tie up in Hope for a few days during the pink salmon derby?

We'll probably bring C-Farer down in late July to fish the inlet, explore the east side and maybe spend a few days on Kalgin Island.

I really like Hope and the atmosphere there with all the families and laid-back approach the community has.
