dump the banner ads for a fee

First I would like to apologize if my post came on too strong. My wife and I have separate email accounts so banner ads leaving tracks are not a problem here. IMHO the exchange of ideas and thoughts is a great thing. My reaction was more about how the site providers fund the site is their business alone as my opinion. They have always shown to be level headed and fair. I’m all for putting money into their pockets but I don’t think suggesting changes how they fund the site should not be open to group discussion. That’s just me. I saw the suggestion to limit revenue available to the providers as taking money out of their pockets. I contribute to the site’s providers without having to be prodded. I just like to get my point across without being too breathy. I have exchanged PM's with the poster. I think we are good. Merry Christmas to all.

Well, the top banner is an ad for Vanguard, a great outfit where Dotty and I have our IRAs. The bottom banner (no kidding) is for "3 early signs of dementia".I have to admit, I'm curious what your banners read.

Oh great. First flu shots, then football...now comes the great Fidelity vs. Vanguard debate.

Can't we all just get along?

The banner ads seem to have a boat-centric default mix ... and then dip into stuff picked off my cookies left from visiting other web sites. Seen several banners for brass beds, stemming from research on selling prices for used ones. And, a persistent banner touting Google's Nexus tablet. I think that one comes from my platform, a Samsung tablet.

I bet if you clean out your cookies you will get just the default boat related mix.

A friend who runs a very small forum on big box stores has a contract with Google for them to select and run banners for his site ... nets him a Ben Franklin each month, for no extra work on his part. Banners are just a reality of this medium.

And, if it helps Tyboo and Da Nag out, it is a good thing. :beer :beer

To be sure, although I installed the adblocker recommended above, I don't mind any banners on the C-Brat site, and continue to 'allow' them. Even if the "three signs of dementia" banner is a little disconcerting for a 77 year old, it's not quite as bad as the "one way" sign I saw recently on the road leading to a cemetery. :xseek

Don't worry. You will forget about it by tomorrow.

Now that's funny!

My ads are for Ranger Tugs, Russian Main Order Brides, and pick-up trucks! I'm kidding, of course, I haven't looked up anything for pick-up trucks. :xnaughty

I like the ads! They help remind me what I think I need.

I can't remember what the 3 signs are, Marty... can you click on that banner for me? A serious topic, but I'm kidding. I'm not losing my mind... that would imply that I had it under control at some time.

Merry Christmas, C-Brats!
