Dusty and I are friends/shipmates although we've never met I feel like I've known him for years. I am/was worried about him, has been for awhile since he sold his boat and hasn't been posting. I e-mailed his son, Les Jr. and I'd like to share with all of you those exchanges and try to get Dusty back into the fray.

The exchanges went like this:

Hi Les. Haven't seen your dad on the C-Brat site lately and sent him an e-mail a week or so ago with no answer. I know he had some medical problems (as do all us old swabbies) and wanted to be sure he was OK.

Can you enlighten me?

Hi Charlie,

He's fine; in fact he's lost 30 pounds (on purpose) and has been going to the gym most days. We've had lots of family things going on the past few weeks. My youngest sister and her husband live next door to my folks and my middle sister and her husband just bought a vacation home a few blocks away; they just spent their 3-week vacation at the house...so lots of "visiting" going on. And, my mother's sister is here visiting from Texas and staying with my folks. Guess they're all just keeping him darn busy (oh yeah, and he just got a new-to-him car and another boat!).

All the best,

Les Jr.

Les, thanks. That makes me feel a lot better. Everyone on the C-Brats site is wondering since he hasn't posted since he sold his CD in early July. If you get a chance, without making him feel bad, ask him to post to let everyone know what's going on.... We miss him. You can forward him this note if you want....

Hi Charlie,
Will do sir!
Take care,
Les Jr.

So, you can see that his son says he's OK, maybe he's just taking time away from the website, hard to think on that though. Apparently he bought another boat....maybe a Bayliner :crook and he's embarassed to tell us :cry (that may bring him out of the woodwork) :smiled

or maybe his computer done broke....

Anyway, I miss him, Red Fox just mentioned it and I thought it was time someone else did too. Hopefully, he hasn't confided to you folks on the left coast what's wrong and I'm out of line. If so, I ardently apologize.

I still miss him. :sad

Charlie

Yeah!! You know I ain't had time to spend on site much lately, but I was wonderin :!: :!: the same. Thanks a bunch for postin this, and I hope it weren't me tryin ta 'spar' to much that sent him away :embarrased If so... I not forgotten ya any way, no way! Lets dig him up :!:  :rainbow ...

Greg, no worries, he's not that kind of a guy! Not sure what's wrong but the Bayliner comment should bring him out of the woodwork, if only to defend himself!

Charlie

Thanks, Charlie, for the inquiry and information. I asked the same questions about two weeks ago on another thread and never received any answers. Good to know he's OK. We'll hope to hear from him! Joe.

I'd asked TyBoo Mike when we all met at Warrenton last month, also, hoping Dusty was ok...Dusty, I miss seeing your posts too! I hope all's well ... All boats are good long as they float!

If you want to catch Sawdust on the CB's, you gotta get up early. He checks things out most every morning. Not to give away any of his secrets, but today was no exception. That's about all the info I know how to find out on the site, but the nerd could tell you everything he looked at on here, what he had for breakfast while he was looking, what he really wanted to say in reply to some of the cornball stuff we've been posting lately, and - this is the scary part - whether he was dressed or just sitting around in his skivvies.

The Wise One doesn't spend much of his time just visiting anymore, but if you are dear to his heart (and it's a big one!) and have something wonderful that happened in your life, or something sad, and you share that with him in an email or PM he will reply. Captain Lampman really cares about his friends, and he will always be there for them even when he's not around for all the less significant stuff. I know that first hand, and it is a treasured part of my life. He cares even more about his family, and that is why he doesn't take the time for BSing much anymore.

Aw shucks - now I'm getting all misty eyed.

And Charlie - here's a sure thing for you. If you want to drag the Ol' Duster out onto the dock for a spell, come on out for the upcoming Sequim gathering, and he will show up to see you, for sure. He'll prolly want to take you on in a foot race to check out your bum leg, but he would be there. Sequim is where I first met the gentleman, and he sorta adopted me.

Mike, thanks. That means a lot to me personally. He is dear to me and I've never met him. I almost came out for SBS this year but business got in the way. I will look at my schedule for Sequim (and I don't know where/when that is) and do my best to get there.

Charlie

Aw shucks!!!

Love you all, and been so busy with family and trying to hold my pants up after losing 35 pounds (on purpose) that I've been off the keyboard.

Leave Tuesday, 13th, for Monterey CA -- WWII squadron reunion of those remaining few :sad -- but back on the Brat site Saturday.

Try to check in every a.m. so I don't miss the gang, but trainer at the gym will break my arm if I'm late, so don't post.

Did get another boat, 18 year old inboard Pierson Rampage 24, but miss my 22 CD! I'll post a picture soon of the latest toy... and wish it could tow a gas pump!!!!! At 4 bucks a gal. for petrol it ain't going far.

Thanks for thinking of the old motor mouth!!!

Dusty

There's Waldo, er Dusty, right there!

Thirty-five pounds?!? You better be careful or you'll end up as scrawny as Cynthia Lou. The trainer better look out, too. It is interesting you commented on trying to keep your pants up, because we have been getting some recent alerts through the software that someone at your IP has been browsing the site in his skivvies.

Have fun at the squadron reunion. Must be a rather bittersweet event, but you get to take the good parts back home with you. Thank you for having paid the dues to be invited to such an affair.

I tried Googling up a picture of your Pierson, and all I could find some some big old sailboat. I was just fixing to boot your butt off this motorboat forum, when I spotted a reference to Pearson boats, and they do make some power models. So, you'll be forgiven if you got the spelling wrong, but we will be needing to see that picture to make sure.

Thanks for the note. Take care, dear friend.

Mike

Found this on the web after a hunt. Looks like a power boat to me... Way to go Duster!
