Looking for best price and service for a Garmin 4208 bundle and GMRHD digital radar 18". Anybody have any luck with on-line ordering or any suppliers in the area. I was trying to get from Boaters World in Portland price was right, but they are out of stock and apparently going out of business. I'm willing to drive a few hours for a good supplier, price being the issue.

Any suggestions

Personally, I would go hunting online for the best sale price to be had, then carry the ad into your local West Marine and let them match it. Couple of Caveats:

1) The place you're buying from has to be a brick & Mortar store. No Ebay, no bedroom "stores". Defender.com has worked for me a few times. In fact I got an incredible sale price on a C80 system several years ago and WM Oceanside matched it.

2) If the place you're buying from charges for shipping, give the WM guy the price you're gonna pay PLUS shipping. It show's them you're not out to burn them, just get a fair deal.

3: If the place you're buying from doesn't have sales tax, point it out to the salesman that you want to pay precisely what you would pay Defender, so that means WM matches including tax.

Be happy (and nice to them) Soon you will get "West Marine Reward" dollars in the mail too. THAT came as a surprise to me. Paid for a VHF, actually.

You don't say what prices you've found so far, but Consumers Marine, a good online outfit in my experience, has the 4208 bundle for $2595. Defender has it for $2526.

I bought all of the electronics for the 22 from Matt. Send him an email or PM and I'm sure he'll be able to work up a quote. Prompt service and great prices.

Our own Matt Unique has a good online store, and my understanding is that the warantee is the same as in a "brick and mortor store" If not Jim's BOE is another excellent resource which I have used a number of times. He does have a brick and mortor store as well as on line.

ScurvyDawgg,

If this works there will be a link here to Commercial Captains site, "Matt Unique" has a very helpful, and respected, commercial vender site. The good part, he is also an active C-Brat. Good luck, and give him a PM.

I realize it may be a bit of a drive, if you want to go that route, but from what I have heard here, there should be no need.
