engine start problem

on our twin 150df Suzuki's the starboard side is not starting. The tilt button from the throttle controls is not allowing the engine to tilt from the handle either, but the port side engine starts fine and tilts fine.

We are checking to see if there are wire problems. While looking into the wiring from the throttle we are wondering if the throttle sensors work along with the safety neutral switch. Both are in the same place and use the same linkages. One switch is the safety neutral switch and the other is called the throttle position sensor switch.

check for battery voltage @ the engine in question. :mrgreen:
 
Might also be that the throttle/gear handle is not in exactly the "Neutral" position. I have had that happen and the first time, sort of freaked me out, checking stuff. Found the lever canted back a hair, fixed that and got ignition right away.

I agree about checking the throttle handle position. Had that happen on my fishing boat. A screw had lost a nut, and the handle position was messed up. Keep the starter on while moving the handle around a bit as a quick and dirty check.

Follow the voltage flow/interruption using a voltmeter. Check for voltage and resistance problems, open circuits, and failed components.

This good advice for almost all electrical problems:
Obtain and figure out how to use a VOM (Voltage/Ohm/Ammeter) to analyze and solve electrical problems logically.
Learn to read wiring diagrams. Get a basic understanding of electricity, circuits, components, and batteries.
Demystify the electrical world. Priceless knowledge!
