Hi Brats,
Marcia, Boomer (our Airedale) and I will be spending May 16-26 on the Erie Canal, launching at Seneca Lake State Park and heading east. At this point we plan on returning to Seneca Lake to haul out.
I did the entire canal both ways about 20 years ago on my sailboat and we did the west end in '95 on a SeaRay 270 while doing a magazine article/sea trial.
We have no plans but to relax and enjoy small town America and the sylvan countryside. We had contemplated launching further east and spending a few days on the Hudson, but don't want to push any kind of time frame.
I recently did some research on-line about Seneca Lake and found that it has some great fishing in its 600 foot deep waters, including rainbow, brown and lake trout and salmon. We might return to the lake early and try our luck with riggers or dipseys for a few days.
Will any other Brats be in the area or live near the canal?
Regards,
Nick
