Erie Canal PBS DVD and the Seattle Boat Show

On Friday, 1/19, my mother "Jenny B" fainted, collapsed, and was transported to the hospital where she remains today with a serious urinary infection complicated by age related problems. I'm her only remaining family so with much regret I'm forced to cancel reservations and miss the 2007 SBS.

As for the Erie Canal DVD's, Chris of Rana Verde fame passed by around noon today on his way to the boat show and picked up a box full of DVD's. All the Brats who have PM'd me have reserved copies in the box and there are about 6 extra unmarked copies for anyone who might want one. If you're on the list, please contact Chris. If you're not on the list, check with him anyway. He's a good man to know.

Pat Byrd is also doing yeoman work covering for me so please give him any beer you might have been tempted to exchange for the DVD had I showed up.

Have a great time this year. AFAIC, there's always next year....

Don

Don, good luck with your mother, whatever the outcome. It's tough dealing with a parent like that, for good or bad (not the parent.) Judy just went through that, so give our best to Mary, also.

Best wishes, Judy and Boris

Don-

Very sorry to hear about your mother and that you won't be attending the SBS.

My own 89 year old mom broke her hip on December 20th, but whe's recovering now and is in stable enough shape that I'll be able to attend.

Here's hoping your mom recovers well and that we can meet at the 2008 Boat Show!

I always enjoy talking with you and will miss you in Seattle!

Joe.

Don, I was looking forward to meeting you. Thank you for the Cocobolo Rosewood. I will send the two hubs I turned for you in the morning.

Our good thoughts go out to you both as you deal with your mothers medical challenges.

Don,
Sorry to learn of your mother's current medical challenges. We'll certainly miss the opportunity to meet you in person now, but your priorities are where they should be. Give our best to your mom!

What's happening ???? First Dusty and now you... I had it all planned out that we could blame everything on you two... but now what we gonna do ??
I was really looking forward to your leadership (Party Master) We'll really miss you this year....but I understand about mom's... I once had one...

Thanks Steve. In the albums I even saw a shot of one of the DVD's sitting on a table at the Hawthorne, so it looks like Chris came through like a champ. Thank you Rana Verde I'm sure the extras got snapped up as well. If anyone did, indeed, come up with the sea chanty CD, please PM me so I can "sneak" a copy.

Final answer re: mom? Stroke complicated by a severe bladder infection. She's in Medicare rehab now but it's not optimistic so she'll either remain in the nursing home or shift to Hospice. In keeping with our spiritual beliefs, we are simply praying for whatever is best for her and letting a higher power decide what's best.

Don

Don,

Please know that you and your Mother are in our thoughts and prayers. We are on the hook tonight in Boot Key Harbor in the Keys, and we had the Erie Canal DVD playing.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Don,Terry here-the east coast guy that sent you the vhs tape----If you like I can bring to the SBS a couple of cd's that have a lot of Erie canal songs on them from local artists
Terry

Terry, Rana Verde Chris did a great job in passing out the DVD's as well as dropping off that wonderful Erie Canal audio CD when he returned to San Diego.

Many many thanks, Terry. It's the same folk who did the Erie Canal special. Things got a bit exciting here but it all came out fine. Mom's getting here obligatory Medicare rehab and will likely remain in the nursing home section indefinitely. At least the tension has lifted somewhat.

Again I want to thank you and your son, Terry. Without that VHS tape very few of us would have seen that wonderful Erie Canal cruise featuring our very own El and Bill as well as the other adventurers in the pod of C-Dorys that accompanied them. I truly enjoyed the cruise even if it was "virtual."

Don

Patti and I extend our sincere thanks to you for making the Erie Canal DVD and for making it available at the SBS. We just watched it and enjoyed it very much. What a beautiful area and what a neat place for a cruise. Now...if only we can figure out a way to get us and C-Cakes from Washington State to new York State.
