Although I added a custom aluminum second step to exit the cockpit, the admiral found that stepping on the shelf under the gunnel worked best for her.

Even though she is petite, the shelf was flexing more than I thought it should, so I attached a aluminum bar to the rigid gunnel above the shelf for support, It is rock solid now. Cheap, quick and easy.
