Don't know - certainly someone might have tried it, but I haven't heard about it. The most recent 16 Angler modification is on Alyssa Jean, cutting the port side of the front bulkhead out to open up the cuddy. Going to do the same thing on Crabby Lou. Anyone who has tried to fit sideways through the little cuddy door opening will understand why this is a great modification. Here is what that it looks like:
Now imagine a vee-berth platform ala the 16 Cruiser - I measured, there is enough length for at least us short people so the platform could go from the front of the cuddy to the break between the cabin and cockpit. The half in the cabin would slide out from over the cuddy portion and drop down so it would be flat, it would have removable legs with rubber feet, if you can visualize this.
We already have Crabby Lou set up with removable seats and a camperback.
So fold in the bulkhead removal and vee-berth platform, we get up off that air mattress in the cockpit, and lots of room in the cockpit under the camperback for a folding table, chairs, the Porta-Potti, cooler and all-important Mr. Heater Buddy!
So, somebody might ask, why not just get a 16 Cruiser? Good question. Well, three reasons. One, because it is there - everybody needs a project, right David? Two, we have a 1991 Angler already - we bought it for crabbing and shrimping (yes, Bill, you were right, the CD25 is too much to deal with in and out for a couple hours of crabbing). Now, this will be a little controversial, but also because the Angler has the helm forward compared to the Cruiser, and the weight is where it is supposed to be. Cruisers all seem to need Permatrims to get the bow down. The Angler runs at a proper attitude without a Permatrim - in fact it seems to have a less bow-high attitude compared to Cruisers even with their Permatrims.
So, going to do this, Patty is NOT sold on overnighting on the Angler, but she has been a good sport, done it a couple of times. So we crab and shrimp (and hopefully fish) on the Angler, and do those Gulf Island, Lake Powell, Inside Passage and other vacation cruises on Daydream. Long weekends, that to me will be a toss-up!

Does anyone know of anyone...who has extended the cabin length on a 16'- Angler? Did it work....or look like they shouldn't have tried??
