Just a follow up on Fan-C-Dory's electrical upgrade. She now has a split bus electrical system. The house batteries consist of two group 27 deep cycle in parallel batteries connected to a 4 way Guest Battery Switch. The engine start battery consist of a series 27 cold cranking start battery connected to the 4 way Guest Battery Switch. Battery to positive/negative power bus bars are number 2 wire. The power supply to the helm station has been upgraded to number 4 wire with inline 100amp breaker powering a fuse block consisting of 80amp total capacity. The original number 8 wire still remains in the wiring harness to the helm now connected to a separate fuse block with a 40amp total capacity protected by a 50amp breaker. All the fuses are now labeled and the correct capacity fuses have been installed. I have cleaned and protected ALL battery compartment electrical connections with dielectric grease. I am committed to cleaning and protecting these connections at least once a season. A big thanks to everyone on c-brats for your suggestions.

This might be a good place to mention a product introduced to me by an aviator who uses it on his airplanes. Boshield is a spray on penetrate, circuit protector that actually wicks up under the wire insulation to prevent water intrusion. It coats metal surfaces and prevents tarnish. I have used it for years on my boats and have had few corrosion problems.
