I have a 1988 16’ Fisherman, and the cockpit is not enclosed. As we know, many C-Dorys were built with a “floating” helm bulkhead enclosing the cuddy cabin, meaning the sides are not sealed to the hull. Instead, there is a small gap around the entire perimeter. We have wasps in my area and I know they will use this gap to nest in the cuddy cabin area of my boat. Has anyone ever sealed this perimeter gap with expanding foam or something else?

I don't know about filling it but I do know that wasp HATE Bounce Dryer Sheets. If you line the area with them the wasps will go find somebody else's boat to build nests in.

Harvey: Unfortunately I hate dryer sheets too, so they will have no place on this boat!

I don't much like them either. My only use is for pest repellant. Seems to be a good use. I like them better than I like wasps.

I'd try some round (tubular) foam weather striping with a smooth outer surface (non-porous) that is the appropriate size to stuff in the crack.

Thanks C-Green, good idea. I’ll look into that.
