Desert Dory
New member
Hello Brats,
Well, after 15/13 years as a lurker/member of this site my wife and I finally pulled the trigger on one of the C-Dory's listed here on the site.
I saw my first C-Dory on the Sacramento River (we used to live in Rocklin) sometime in the early 90's when I was out salmon fishing with a buddy in my 16' Western side console, I thought, "Man, that's a cool boat! I'd like to have one of those one day". Well, with life being the way it is, moving to AZ, raising kids, etc., etc., the boat thing never really materialized, until now.
Over the years we did manage to check out a couple 22 cruisers, which only reinforced our decision to eventually have a small, lightweight, simple, efficient, "boaterhome" in which we could do some traveling.
As I started getting closer to retirement (still a few years away) the Mrs. and I started getting our "boaterhoming" game plan together. Knowing we would eventually towing either a C-Dory 22 or Ranger 21EC I purchased a super low mile 2010 Tundra 4x4 a couple years ago which we currently use to do the "Overlanding" thing. We do enjoy simple, off the grid, get away from everybody, camping and the C-Dory should fit right in with our style of getting away.
To be honest, we really weren't expecting to get the boat for another couple of years but a good deal, on a nice boat, happened to pop up a couple weeks ago and I was lucky enough to be the first one to contact the seller, MUCH to my surprise.
After a quick conversation with the seller (a SUPER nice gentleman that I hope will end up being a long distance friend), a deposit was sent. Afterwhich, many pics/documentation were sent, a few more phone conversations had, and a deal was made. The end result being, the beautiful bride and I will be heading out 1 Aug to pick her up. I may have told the seller more than once how excited we are. I'm glad he's a patient man.
Anyhow, it's been a long time coming and I'm super excited to finally become an "official" C-Brat.
LET THE MODS BEGIN!!!
