Hi All,

I'm looking to install fishing rods racks on the ceiling of my CD25. The racks I'm considering come with relatively short mounting screws. Is it OK to use these screws in the ceiling or should I use glue / epoxy?

Thanks, Dick

Steve (Dora~Jean) installed racks on his ceiling- check his photo album.

I have racks on the ceiling of my 2003 C Dory 25. I used short screws. However, double check and see if the area you are going to put the rack is cored. On my 2003-the raised center is not cored, and the side areas are cored. The Tom Cat 255 has the center cored, and the side areas not cored (I glued there).

The point is that C Dory may have changed the construction of the top.

I have a 2007 CD25. How do I know if the raised center ceiling is not cored or not?

Thanks, Dick

Jeff on C Pearl has a 2006 or 2007 C Dory25 and Marc at Wefing's has installed the AC unit--and maybe the satellite TV? They should know if that boat was cored in the center or sides of the cabin top.

Contact the factory.

Dick, I'm pretty sure your ceiling is cored, not sure which year they started coring. Just press up on the ceiling, if it's stiff, it's cored. The 5/16" ceiling like mine is easy to flex -- but maybe an advantage of less weight above the waterline.

I will be adding arched aluminum or SS stiffeners to my ceiling to support the extra weight of the rods/reels. Although not that much weight, I have noticed some sagging in the summertime when it gets hot inside the cover, so I temporarily support the ceiling with an extension pole when stored.
