Folding shower seat idea

Maybe some one else has thought of this before me but here is what I am thinking; On almost every boat I have ever fished on, there is always a chair that gets in your way when netting, gaffing, fighting and bringing a big fish into the boat, and throwing it on the floor.

What is every ones thoughts on mounting two of these seats (click link below) on the outside cabin wall below the back windows? Once you get a bite, one could stand up, quickly fold the seat up with one hand without missing a beat, and then have adequate deck space to fight the fish.

My only concern is would the walls have enough strength to support someone sitting on this chair? Any other concerns or thoughts I should be thinking about?

The aft bulkhead of the 22 and 25 are fiberglass with a balsa core (not sure about most recent models, might be foam)--if a fitting were thru bolted to a SS back up plate it should support weight. The fitting showed in the link, has a "steel" plate, which would probably rust. I would want to spread out the load and there are several ways to do that, including putting a block of starboard, and putting several bolts on each side, with the fitting bolted to it.

As for fishing boats--that is why I use a walk around center console as my primary fishing boat... :crook There have been also folding helm seats made fo many years, which bolt to the side of a cabin--not sure of the height--but one of these could be put on the side of the combing, or a full SS piano hinge seat on the aft bulkhead might also work.
 
The shower seat would not be suitable for salt water application in the long term. I have often looked for a fold down bulkhead seat for fishing, and this what you have found appears to be the closest available.

The Garelick seat does not fold down from what i can see so it is an other piece of stuff that takes up space in the v berth when not in use and couldn't just be flipped down when you have a fish.

I was able to find a marine fold down seat once on the net but i believe it was available only in the UK. :(

My 22 came with one of the Garelick seats. It attaches to the starboard side of the outside bulkhead. AFAIK it is not through bolted.

On my 22 the rear bulkhead is at least an inch thick (maybe more) and is balsa cored.

We hardly ever use it. It is better to have free standing chairs that can be moved around or stowed as required. The Garelick seat only works in one place only.
 
Don't forget that the door would have to be closed to access a seat on the port side. On my starboard side, I have a rod holder for rods, the boat hook and other stuff, so for me a folding stool that can be tossed is easiest.

WS; What make of folding stool do you have? I have been looking for a high seat stool/director's chair with a preference for one with telescoping legs or at least one that collapses into a tube as opposed to flat (for ease of storage). On another thread on camp chairs, there was mention of a Pico model, but the seat height is way too low.
I have a second helm in the cockpit, which is great for fishing, but doesn't have a seat and our regular camp chairs aren't high enough.

Its just one of the plastic folding foot stools that you see in RV stores. I like the taller one. They all fold flat. The door is my backrest.

Correct for my 22 as well. but I would sacrifice some rod holders for a good seat like this that might also serve as a secondary step up to clear the gunnel when boarding or disembarking.

If this is Stainless, and from what I could tell it is, (going down through the reviews and Q&A's), this might be a good answer.
