for sale in seattle 22 for 22 k

Look at the motor value (one of those, almost too good to be true).

To bad it's 4000 or so miles round trip or I/we would be interested.

Somebody should jump on this one.

You don't have to make the trip--just have the boat transported--probably about $2,000. Get a survey up where the boat if you have any question. But I would buy a 1990 with a 2002 engine at that price as is where is.

Bob-

I would think you have more contingency funds than many of us have...and can afford to take greater financial risks. Like my brother in law...

This is a 21 year-old boat, with a balsa-cored hull, and with bottom paint, meaning that you can assume that it has been slipped or moored for most of its life.

Buying it long-distance, with little after-sale recourse, would be stressful for me...

The "bargain" could erode quickly if there are core problems...and remember, a surveyor doesn't guarantee any "hidden defect", and they typically won't do any destructive testing, which means that all defects are "hidden"...

I would be very cautious buying this even locally, but would not even think of a remote purchase.

Perhaps, just me...

There is some room for repair at this price. I wouldn't be afraid of it. I owned a high end sailboat with a balsa cored hull, and I used to worry about it a lot. But it never gave me any problem. My insurance company required me to have a survey every two years because of requirements of the marina and the surveys over the ten years I had it never did turn up a problem. And that boat was used constantly, both by me, and for a couple years in timeshare. Balsa is fine if it is done right.
