found it on craigslist

Not to knock it, but if you ever have wondered about the vale of having an enclosed cabin on a C-Dory, just look at that first boat and imagine yourself out in it in cold wet weather.

Open center console boat: Florida yes, Pacific Northwest, no!

Maybe we could add a fireplace in there somewhere?

I have to disagree about the usefulness of this boat in the PNW. If you are just going to be fishing this is a great boat. In fact the first C.Dory I ever saw was a old center console in a book about fishing the PNW. It had to be from the 80's.

If you are a moocher this is the exact boat you want to have. It would also be great for halibut and lingcod. A lot of people around here fish out of open boats in all kinds of weather. You just have to dress right. I spent today knee deep in salt water while it was snowing. some of the time was just sitting in the water waiting for a duck to fly by. I was never cold and when walking from point A to B I had to be careful not to over heat and sweat to much.

If I had the money and space I would get this boat.

Tom-

OK, , but to be used for fishing, pretty much exclusively!

And while one's a bit younger, say about 50/55 or less.

At 71, I'd be wearing a wet, dry, or survival/worksuit, I'd think!

Where's the hot coffee spigot on that center console?

I'd still need a separate boat for cruising and overnight accommodations.

It is a nice looking boat, and the price tag is very attractive!

Also, if your fishing friends are moochers then this would be a great boat to have. Only take them fishing on cold rainy days and they will start bugging their friends with cruisers and leave you alone.

Sorry.

It really rains a lot here in the summer and KNOW how much it sucks being in an open boat when the weather kicks up. There would be spray from the wind and waves, rain, and with 50 degree temps and great distances, fatigue would set in much sooner. While I have fond memories of my Zodiac days, I wouldn't ever go back to an open boat up here again. I hate being that cold.

Thinking about a theme being discussed elsewhere, I wonder what one of these boats costs new? This is still a very nice boat at a great price and will make someone (maybe in a warmer climate  ) very happy.

I don't know if that model is something the current factory offers. As I recall, there were only a handful of them made around 2007-08. I got to drive one that Wefings had - it would be a great warm weather boat... we see a lot of this type boat here in south Texas.

Best wishes,
Jim

I was thinking the same thing Joe.
Nice boat but clearly not for me.

Oh make no mistake, I don't mind the actual act of fishing in the rain. No trouble there at all! It the 2-3 hour trip each way going 15-20 mph in 45-50 degree air with rain, wind, spray, and everything else that gets me. I guess down South you guys only fish on sunny days or something as if you don't fish in the rain up here you don't fish. There's sunny days? I have got to look into that :)

I fish no matter the weather. Just have to dress for it. This year I have gotten in to duck hunting, No I have never seen a episode of duck dynasty as I don't watch network tv, and have learned that you can be standing in the water, in the rain and snow with floating ice and still be warm if you dress right. I have a hard time not heating up on the way to my spot if I walk to fast.

Just for the record by biggest brown trout was caught the day after christmas at 4000 ft in a open 12ft boat in a raging snow storm. You got to go while the bit is on.

Tom-

If you really like being miserably cold, wet, and spending your hard-earned dollars at the same time, perhaps you'd enjoy…………….

standing in a cold shower with your clothes on and simultaneously tearing up $100 bills in rapid succession!

But I'm guessing you're already having enough fun on the other thread after wishing for a SeaHawks loss.

Hang Tight! (Semper Fi, to you Marines!)
