Got some views but no responses, so...... I took a chance and bought a Chinese LCD screen for the Garmin 182C GPS. It was advertised using the Garmin OEM part number. It was either that or buy a new comparable system for $499 plus screen cover for $29 and an extension cable for the transducer (since the $499 only comes with a 5 foot cable) so another $60. Add tax and I'm in for about $650 without installation. I paid $100 for the Chinese screen and $50 for a local computer guy to install it in the 182C. Works like a champ. Crystal clear screen and all data still in tact.
Now my Furuno 1623 radar screen has a dark spot in the middle. No Chinese replacement screen available and no Furuno part available. So I sent it out to Seatronics in Florida for an estimate.
If I didn't have bad luck, I would not have any luck at all. Radar upgrade is $2500 plus. Ain't gonna hapen.
