Garmin 430S

I have the Garmin 430S in my 2008 R21 and I have yet to figure out why when I have a chart displayed and a waypoint entered the depth will not display at the bottom of the screen. I have been over the manual but to no avail. Can anyone shed some light on this?
 
I would see if there is a newer version of firmware for the unit. When Garmin made there new units there programmers decided that they knew better than the users what they would like to see on the screen and gave very very limited things that the user can change. I have a 535s and could see if I get the same problem this weekend and let you know. I would suspect that it is just the way the code is written, hopefully it was fixed in a later version of the code.
 
By the way I think that the 430s was on a recall. You might check with Garmin to see if your serial number is in that recall. The boys at Boaters World told me they had to send all there units back.
 
Thanks, I don't see the 4 series as having been recalled but there is a newer firmware version so I'll try that and see if it allows depth (a kind of important #) to be displayed while tracking. The manual shows the screen as having that info.
