I had a credit with Garmin so I decided to purchase a new SD card that covered from New York to the Chesapeake Bay. I have a 4208 multi function Garmin Chartplotter that came with preloaded charts of the coastal U.S. When we are not traveling we take the boat to Tuckerton New Jersey and go out to the Little Egg Inlet area and beyond. From the entrance of Tuckerton creek the trip involves lots of winding around past islands and numerous sand bars. This week with the new expensive mapping I noticed a green can and a red nun bouy completely out of position on the chart plotter. If in the fog and without a bread cumb trail to follow this would put you right up on a sand bar. See pictures on page 5 of Will-C's album. The first picture shows our boat to the right of a green can as we head out towards the inlet. The picture of the chartplotter at almost the same time shows where it thought i should be and the previous bread crumb trails of previous trips going though where the cans are actually located. If someone was in the fog with out radar this would clearly have them up on top of a pretty shallow sand bar. If someone wants to attach the pictures to the thread that would be good. I'll report the problem to Garmin as the position is clearly shown on the bottom right of our chartplotter. Just a heads up and another reason why we use Coastal Explorer is the charts you select get updated everytime to use the software if you have an internet connection at the time of start up.
