Gauge Installation Question

I have a fuel flow gauge to install and I think the steering wheel is going to interfere with using the drill in the helm.....I will know for sure when I get the boat home. Assuming it is necessary, how hard is it to remove the steering wheel. I think there is a nut under the center cap. After removing the nut, will the wheel come right off? No special tools required? Any other words of wisdom?

Thanks,

Rob

The wheel comes right off. I have removed the 22, 25 and 255's with no difficulty--you might have to use a little "gentle" prying, but usually just working them side to side, brings them right off. I like to put a little silicone grease on the wheel when I put it back in places. I have never had to use "loctite" on the nut, but if you do, use ony the one which takes miminal force to break free.

If the nut is a Nylox--then it should not be reused. However in my boats it is a solid nut. (Also that is what the vast majority of the previous boats I have owned had--solid nut)--
