Gel coat repair ?

I have a chip in the Blue gel coat....When I opened the can of blue gel coat material that came with my boat....it was like jelly...not hard but not liquid.... now what do I do ?

What I am afraid of is that if I buy a tube of the blue coloring that goes into resin to color it, that I can not match the color....

Is there a place that anyone knows where I can buy blue colored gel coat material ?

Thanks

Joel

Joel,

Contact Scott at the factory. Scott Boysen <Scott@TritonMarine.us> He has been very helpful with such issues. It may be that you can just add a little solvent to the gel coat you have to bring it back from jelly to fluid.

Joel,

You are correct, if you try to add to what you have you will tint it another shade. Are you close enough to come up to the factory? If so I will gladly give you some new gelcoat, if not just take your bad gelcoat to any gelcoat supply store and they will be able to match it.

Just so you know, gelcoat will last about 6 months on the shelf before it will start to go bad.

I hope that this information is helpful and please don't hesitate to give me call if you need further information.

Scott
