Give me your tired, etc.

Well, just for discussion sake, the current marina at Liberty Landing was the most expensive marina we have ever stayed in. Worth it, considering the proximity to the park and the water taxis to get to Jersey City and Manhattan. Other than location, we have stayed in marinas that had more and nicer amenities for much less $$.

It is the old saying: location, location, location. The current marina, just by the rates charged, is already "upscale."

Just a guess, but I'm thinking if you asked the general public (very few who are boaters) about spending state money on a marina, most would not be in favor of it... even though it may be good for the local economy. I don't know how most things are done in Jersey, but around here, there are plenty of state projects that aren't open to public discussion before it is underway. That said, is there something fishy going on there? Probably. Not meant to be political, just a statement of the obvious.

If you are ever in a discussion with non-boating folks about a boat capable of cruising (all those great C-Dorys), most think you are talking "yacht." If you mention "fishing," many will be thinking of a jon-boat.

Big yachts need a place to dock, too. Take a cruise through Ft. Lauderdale sometime.

Marty, this is my deficit I'm sure, but I don't know much about New Jersey, except: It is way over there on the right coast; I had a buddy from there when I was in the Army and he told me it isn't all a big city; and there is a memorial there I would like to see if/when I get to NJ. (It is the Russian donated memorial to 9.11 and is called the Tear Drop Memorial and is in Bayonne, NJ

I may get to see it sometime, I hope so, and hopefully it will be warmer there then than now.

Well, your buddy is right. There's a reason NJ is called The Garden State. By the way, The marina at Liberty Park is close to Bayonne.
We found our first boat at a boat show in the Frank Farley Marina , a beautiful state facility in Atlantic City. https://www.goldennugget.com/atlantic-c ... es/marina/
