Hello Sandra here, Can someone please tell me which C-dorys have an enclosed head, and which has the biggest galley/indoor space.
Im looking for a dory under 25 ft ..
Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi Sandra!

The TC255 has the largest berth in class. It’s more of a rectangle than a V shape.

It’s easy to cut a ‘galley extension’ that extends over the helm seat and throttles and add a 110v outlet (from the water heater) for galley appliances. It stores under the Nav seat cushion when underway.

There are no trailer boats under 25 feet that I know of that offer an enclosed head (The Ranger Tug 23 does, but it has a LOA of over 28 feet).

We’ve reached the age where we’re not willing to leave the boat to go potty at night. But if we were, we’d consider how a TC255 sold for $289,000 without a $17,000 trailer at the Seattle Boat Show and how many nights you could pay to stay at marinas over how many years for the price difference between that and a C-Dory 22…plus the truck would cost half as much.

Best of luck in your search!

John

The C-Dory 25 has a head, and while the berth is not quite as big as the Tomcat, I think you would find it and the galley acceptable. The 25 also weighs less than the Tomcat, and can be towed with a 1/2 ton pickup, as long as capable of towing up to 8500 lbs. Colby

Sandra, regardless of which CDory you choose, consider installing a composting toilet instead of a Marine head with holding tank. Our new dirt boat (Oliver travel trailer) has a Nature’s Head, and it is so much cleaner and simpler than having to dump or pump out a holding tank. Liquids are diverted to a small tank, and solids to the composting hopper. There is no foul odor, and what odor is there (a slight coconut smell from the coconut coir in the solids hopper) is vented to the outside via a small fan and vent tube.

You might talk to Pat and Patty Anderson about their experiences with a composting toilet on their CD 25.

Sandra, We also own a Tom Cat that we purchased new 2020. We love the boat as its very towable (with the proper truck) has plenty of room for extended stays. We have been up to the San Juans for the C Dory outing at Friday Harbor and stayed for a few weeks We have also stayed on it down our way at Shasta, and Crescent City for many month long trips.

Wandering Sagebrush we also headed back to Tennessee may of 2022 and picked up our Oliver dirt yacht which we have really enjoyed.

We hope to make the Friday Habor gathering this coming year and then head into Canadian waters for a month or so.
