Yes just made out of 1/2" Starboard. The bottom is 1/4". I slides on pretty snug. I drill a couple of holes in it for a safety line they are not in the picture.

Jody, Do you know how much that weighs with the light on it, (or off if you have that) and measurement across the longest dimension of that mount on the bow rail?

3.5 lbs. for the mount with the snap in base for the light. 16.25" across the back and 7" from the front to the back. I cut a piece of the starboard 1' X 24" long and bent that around the bow rail and clamped it. Then I cut a piece for the top and left a little on the front edge and screwed that to the strip. Then I used a router with a flush bit to trim the front edge. Did the same process for the bottom. There is a piece of 1/4" between the mount and the light bracket trimmed to the same size as the light bracket. It doesn't have to be there just looks better and covers a hole.

That is the best looking, most useful mounting I have seen. I like the removable option, with storage somewhere else for most of the time but able to put it up if you are out after dark, or need to be.

I'm guessing that you just drop the wire through the hawsepipe and plug it into a plug in the V-Birth for power and the light responds to the remote control?

The most sensible solution to the forward spot light issue I have seen. (But not surprised because of your innovativeness.) Great idea and execution.

BUT you get that annoying reflection on the bow rail. Ill probably keep it where it is and just deal with the forward reflection.

I have a roof mounted Golight and since when pointed backwards it doesn't shine in my eyes, reflection off of the bow rail was the only problem. 1/2" gaffer's tape on the helm side of the SS bow rail eliminated that, including with sun shine. When on Lake Powell this year I noticed one area that I hadn't taped quite right and, as with the search light, the round SS bow rail always seems to reflect the sun right back. The tape doesn't show much from any angle other than from the helm and I forget that it is there, but I do need to fix the little spot that I missed. Not a problem because the $4 roll that I bought is enough tape for every C Dory in existence.

Power cable can run down the hawsepipe, forward hatch or the center window.

After three years I vote for forward roof mount, I dont like anything on bowrail just because dont like looking at it all the time. With light on forward roof I navagiate at night with no problems. I solved your problem wanting lighting in other areas of the boat with a hand held. I'm using the large Mag Light which has very effective plastic clips that will hold your light when not in use. My hand held light is just above my head and I can reach it in a snap.

Jody, the thinking towards LED was not the bulb replacement -- which would probably be never with LED's, but the difference in power consumption. The incandescent or HID whichever it is is 65 watts and 5.5 amp draw, the LEDs were 15 or 25 watt IIRC. Not a lot of difference unless you are using the light on battery power for extended times.

Harvey I have everything on the boat converted to Led except the spot light at some point I will probably buy the upgrade but will wait a while to see if the price comes down. I have a 6 led spreader light that draws 18 watts that I can clamp on the bow rail or any rail for that matter. I use the spot most while underway watching shoreline. Or to look for tire line at Lake Powell because they forget to replace the dead lights. If your lucky there might be one still working. I just bought 2 led flood lights off of amazon for $20 for my camper will see how they work.
